Halloween seems like a pretty good time to give your skeleton a little attention, and it's asking for more than calcium. πŸ’€

Calcium is important, but bones also need adequate protein, vitamin D, and an overall nourishing diet.

Instead of looking for one "bone health" food or supplement to do all the work, think about what you're consistently giving your body to build with.

You can feed your bones with every bite!

Before you buy a supplement, take a closer look at the label.

The active ingredient may be what caught your attention, but it's only part of the picture.

Here are five questions worth asking:

1. What's actually in it? Look at the complete ingredient list.

2. How much of the active ingredient am I getting? More isn't always better.

3. What are the inactive ingredients doing? Fillers, binders, coatings, colors, and other additives serve different purposes and may interact with one another. Know what you're taking.

4. Has the product been independently tested? Look for credible third-party verification of quality and purity.

5. Does this make sense for me? Your health history, medications, and individual are important considerations. Your doctor can help you decide.

Brands change. Companies get bought. Formulas change.

Learning what to look for gives you something more durable than a list of products someone else likes.

Your bones are paying attention to how you live. Bone is living tissue, and movement provides an important signal to help maintain it.

Walking is valuable, but your bones also benefit from activities that ask them to work against resistance. Depending on your abilities, that might include climbing stairs, resistance bands, lifting weights, hiking, or other weight-bearing activity.

Nutrition, hormones, age, medications, and other health factors matter too.
World Osteoporosis Day is a good reminder that bone health deserves attention long before a fracture occurs.

Good health information should help you make decisions, not just tell you what to buy.

A supplement can have a beautiful label. A food can say "natural." A wellness product can have thousands of five-star reviews.

None of those things automatically tell you whether it is high quality, supported by good evidence, or right for you.

Health claims are everywhere, and some sound more convincing than the research behind them.

This October, for Health Literacy Month, we encourage you to get curious. Ask where the information comes from, what evidence supports it, and whether it applies to your individual health.

Learning to ask better questions is part of learning to care for your health.

Next week is World Osteoporosis Day, so we're giving your skeleton a little extra attention this month. πŸ’€

Your skeleton isn't just the framework holding you up. Bone is living tissue.
Throughout your life, old bone is continually being broken down and new bone is being built.

That balance changes with age, hormones, nutrition, physical activity, certain medications, and other health factors. That's one reason why it's important to think about bone health before osteoporosis develops.

You don't need to wait until there's a problem to care about your bones.

When was your last mammogram?

It's an easy health task to put off, especially when you feel well.

If you're due, this is your reminder to schedule it.

If you're not sure when you're due, this is your reminder to ask.

Concerned about radiation? Ask us about other screening methods.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month doesn't have to mean filling your feed with pink. Sometimes awareness looks like making the appointment.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a good reminder to know your own risk.

Breast cancer risk isn't determined by one thing.
* Age * family history * genetics * toxicant exposure history * nutrition status * breast density * reproductive history * alcohol use * physical activity * metabolic health * weight after menopause * hormone metabolism * and some hormone therapies * can all be part of the picture.

You don't have to worry about every risk factor, but seek out information for better conversations with your healthcare provider about screening and prevention.

This month, consider a simple question:

Do I know what affects my breast cancer risk?

What we trust starts with asking good questions.

When we’re choosing a packaged food, we like to look beyond the claims on the front. What are the ingredients? Does it provide what you need from it, such as protein, fiber, convenience, or simply something you enjoy?

There isn’t one label that makes a food β€œgood” or β€œbad.” Understanding what you’re buying helps you make a choice that fits your needs, preferences, and life.

You don’t have to change everything at once.

When there are several things you want to improve, it can be tempting to create an entirely new routine overnight. A smaller starting point is often easier to practice consistently.

Pick one change that feels both meaningful and realistic. Practice it. Let it become familiar. Then decide what comes next.

Health is built in everyday life, and small steps can be meaningful steps.
