Summer sunshine is great, but dry, uncomfortable eyes aren't. 😅

Between air conditioning, heat, wind, and extra time outdoors, summer can be tough on your eyes.

To help keep irritation in check:
💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day
🕶 Wear UV-protective sunglasses outside
❄️ Keep fans and A/C vents from blowing directly toward your face

A few small adjustments can go a long way toward keeping your eyes comfortable all season long!

June is Cataract Awareness Month.

One of the biggest misconceptions about cataracts is that they happen suddenly. In reality, cataracts typically develop gradually over time, which means many people don't notice the changes right away.

Common symptoms may include:
✔ Blurry or cloudy vision
✔ Increased sensitivity to glare
✔ Difficulty seeing at night
✔ Colors appearing faded

If your vision isn't as clear as it used to be, it may be worth discussing with your eye doctor.

Early detection and regular eye exams can help you stay ahead of vision changes and explore treatment options when the time is right.

Spring allergies don’t just affect your nose; your eyes feel it, too!

If you’re dealing with itching, watering, redness, or irritation this season, a few simple habits can help keep your eyes more comfortable:

✔ Cold compresses help calm inflammation fast. Even just a few minutes makes a difference.
✔ Preservative-free artificial tears flush allergens off the surface of your eye throughout the day. Keep them in the fridge for extra relief.
✔ Stop rubbing. It feels good for a second, but releases more histamine, which makes the itching and swelling worse.
✔ Keep windows closed on high pollen days and change your clothes after spending time outside. Pollen travels with you.
✔ Shower at night instead of the morning so you're not sleeping with pollen on your hair and skin.

May is National Physical Fitness & Sports Month 🏃👁

Staying active benefits more than your heart and muscles, it can support your eye health, too. Regular movement helps encourage healthy circulation and may help reduce risk factors linked to certain eye conditions.

Whether it’s walking, sports, gym time, or simply getting outside more, healthy habits can make a difference for your vision and overall wellness.

Spring in Alabama means beautiful weather, but it also means an absolutely brutal pollen counts. A lot of people are dealing with eyes that won't stop itching, watering, or feeling irritated no matter what you do.

Here's what's actually happening: when allergens hit your eyes, your body releases histamine, which causes that classic itchy, swollen, watery reaction.

A few things that actually help:
👉 Cold compresses to calm the inflammation
👉 Preservative-free artificial tears to flush allergens out
👉 Avoiding touching or rubbing your eyes
👉 Keeping windows closed on high pollen days

🐬 Dolphin eye fact of the day!

Because dolphins’ eyes are positioned on the sides of their heads, they have a much wider field of vision than humans do. Their eyes are also specially adapted to help them see both underwater and above the surface.

Pretty amazing, right?
