Opening our office-based surgery suite has been years in the making, and none of it would have been possible without this team.

Our technicians, surgery schedulers, check-in staff, and our physicians have been incredible with the opening.

We also want to thank ALL the people here at AOA. We couldn’t have opened the surgery suite without them being in clinic and keeping things running behind-the-scenes!

We are so proud of our amazing team here!

We have some exciting news here at AOA! Our new office-based surgery suite is officially open, and we could not be more excited!

This suite allows us to perform cataract surgery right here in our office, and just in time for Cataract Awareness Month. No hospital, IV, or even changing into a gown! That means less stress, lower risk, and a more comfortable experience for our patients.

We have already completed our first cases, and we're just getting started. Stay tuned to see pictures of the teams and people who make it happen!

Men are statistically less likely to visit the doctor, and eye exams are no exception.

Some of the most serious eye conditions have no symptoms in the early stages. Glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration can all progress silently before you ever notice a change in your vision.

June is Men's Health Month, and we're using it as a reminder that taking care of your eyes is taking care of your health. A comprehensive eye exam takes less than an hour and can catch problems you didn't even know were there!

Summer sunshine is great, but dry, uncomfortable eyes aren't. 😅

Between air conditioning, heat, wind, and extra time outdoors, summer can be tough on your eyes.

To help keep irritation in check:
💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day
🕶 Wear UV-protective sunglasses outside
❄️ Keep fans and A/C vents from blowing directly toward your face

A few small adjustments can go a long way toward keeping your eyes comfortable all season long!

June is Cataract Awareness Month.

One of the biggest misconceptions about cataracts is that they happen suddenly. In reality, cataracts typically develop gradually over time, which means many people don't notice the changes right away.

Common symptoms may include:
✔ Blurry or cloudy vision
✔ Increased sensitivity to glare
✔ Difficulty seeing at night
✔ Colors appearing faded

If your vision isn't as clear as it used to be, it may be worth discussing with your eye doctor.

Early detection and regular eye exams can help you stay ahead of vision changes and explore treatment options when the time is right.

Spring allergies don’t just affect your nose; your eyes feel it, too!

If you’re dealing with itching, watering, redness, or irritation this season, a few simple habits can help keep your eyes more comfortable:

✔ Cold compresses help calm inflammation fast. Even just a few minutes makes a difference.
✔ Preservative-free artificial tears flush allergens off the surface of your eye throughout the day. Keep them in the fridge for extra relief.
✔ Stop rubbing. It feels good for a second, but releases more histamine, which makes the itching and swelling worse.
✔ Keep windows closed on high pollen days and change your clothes after spending time outside. Pollen travels with you.
✔ Shower at night instead of the morning so you're not sleeping with pollen on your hair and skin.
