🎉One Year Sober!! 🎉
We would like to congratulate miss Harriet today as she has reached a huge milestone! 👏

The beginning of Harriet’s journey was a struggle. It’s hard to imagine someone so kind going through stays in jail, treatment, and sober homes. She finally found her foundation and built a beautiful life for herself & her family at healing hearts. For a while, there seemed to be one roadblock after another, sometimes she was the thing that was blocking herself from progressing; but she remained willing and cooperated every step of the way.
With her daughter eventually joining her, Harriet took on all the tasks of life with purpose and determination. She has grown into the woman she was always meant to be.

Congratulations today, Harriet. This is not a destination or a race, please stay plugged in as life continues to unfold for you. We are so proud of you! Happy one year!!! 👏 🎉 ❤️

Good morning & Happy FRIYAY! 🎉

It’s a special day of celebration as our behind-the-scenes Director of Chaos Coordination, Chelsea, celebrates SEVEN YEARS of sobriety today! 🥳

Chelsea has been guiding Healing Hearts for the last four years, and what a gift that has been. She showed up with God, some form of caffeine, and a willingness to take the necessary (and not always easy) actions to help both this program and the women in it grow.

She brings courage, wisdom, unwavering faith, and so much love to all of the women, babies, residents, and staff at the lodge.

Chelsea’s commitment to her personal recovery, spirituality, and service is felt throughout the entire program. We appreciate your leadership, dedication, and friendship Chels!

Here’s what Chelsea has to share

“On this morning seven years ago I woke up in a jail cell, completely fine with that because I knew I needed to be there, it’s where I belonged at that moment. I was out of control. Drugs and alcohol ran my life and I had no power against it, no matter how immensely I loved my children or how much anyone loved me. It did not compare to the grips of addiction I was held in so tightly.

Thankfully, the 12 step program loosened that grip and my Creator helps me be free of it completely so long as I do His work and strengthen my spiritual muscles! I’ve been given another chance to live a good and useful life. I’ve found a freedom I never knew existed that looks and sounds like peace of mind and a calm spirit no matter what life challenges and hardships come my way. If I could tell anyone who’s still struggling trying to find a way out it would be this…
You CAN recover! You do not have to keep living in pain and exhaustion. Aren’t you tired yet?? Let’s get to work.”

Happy 7 Years to you! We are so proud of you and grateful for all that you do. đź’ž

Today we are celebrating Brandy and an incredible accomplishment—2 years sober!

Brandy’s journey is a powerful reminder that recovery can transform lives in ways we never thought possible. When she first came through our doors, she was coming from a cycle of jail stays, treatment facilities, and years of chronic addiction.

What makes her story so inspiring is not just where she started, but the fact that she stayed. She committed to the process, gave herself time to heal, and slowly but surely began rebuilding a life she could be proud of and enjoy.

As the fog of addiction lifted, Brandy’s true personality began to shine. The woman we see today is dedicated, responsible, compassionate, and full of life. Through consistency and perseverance, she has continued taking the next right step, even when the journey wasn’t easy.

Over the last two years, Brandy has worn many hats. She recently became a graduate, a college student, a sister, an auntie, a friend, and a trusted peer leader. Today, she continues to serve others as a House Manager, using her experience and growth to help guide women who are walking the same path she once did.

One of the greatest gifts has been watching her smile, laugh, and truly enjoy life. The Brandy we see today is a stark contrast to the woman who first arrived, and that transformation has been nothing short of amazing.

Brandy, we are incredibly proud of you. Your determination, growth, and willingness to keep moving forward have inspired so many people around you. Two years is an amazing milestone, but we know this is only the beginning of all the good things still to come.

Congratulations on 2 years sober! We can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next. 💜

Brandy shared this with us: “Two years ago today, I took my life back. This journey has tested me in ways I never expected, but it has also shown me a strength I didn't know I had. & I am so incredibly grateful for GoodRoad and Healing Hearts for giving me the tools I need to continue strengthening my recovery. I have a huge support system, made life long friendships, gained a family of sisters and not to mention get to be an auntie to all the amazing babies here at the lodge. With all the peace, joy and blessings that fill my days, I am rich in life today and it’s all thanks to God! 💕”

At our latest family and alumni night, alumna Rose offered her own meaningful reflection on her experience with Healing Hearts! We also got to celebrate our friend as she recently reached ONE YEAR of recovery.

Her share reminds us all that every moment spent is worth your time and attention, every moment brings potential for personal growth, genuine healing, and a life of transformation.

It is always a pleasure to witness the lives of the women and children who once resided at Healing Hearts unfold. They surely inspire the current women, the staff and their entire MHA communities. ♥️

🌻 A Life Rebuilt, One Day at a Time 🌻

Yesterday we celebrated Lauren and her 2 years of sobriety!

When Lauren first came to Healing Hearts, she was stepping into a completely new world — a new state, new people, and a new way of living. She came to North Dakota hoping for change, and change is exactly what she found.

Although Lauren was willing to try something different, she also came in guarded, resistant, and unsure if she could fully trust the process or the people around her. But even with walls up, she stayed. She cooperated with the process, and little by little, the process began to change her life.

Today, Lauren has gone from resident to House Manager and has rebuilt relationships with her family, including being reunited with her children. Through every uncertain moment, she kept showing up, kept pushing forward, and never gave up on herself.

Now, Lauren is someone who brings joy, support, and leadership to those around her. One of the greatest gifts has been watching her step fully into her role as a mother and seeing the love she pours into her children.

Lauren, your story is proof that recovery works when you stay committed, even when it’s hard. We are so proud of the woman you’ve become and so excited to see what’s waiting for you up the road ahead.

Help us congratulate Lauren on 2 years sober! đź’ś

Lauren shared this with us: “Being sober from drugs and alcohol for the past two years has completely changed my life. During this time, I have learned how to face challenges with a clear mind, rebuild relationships, and focus on becoming a healthier and stronger person. I have learned to be brave and fight for my kids, which I always thought was impossible because I always felt inadequate as a mother. Sobriety has taught me discipline, accountability, and the importance of making positive choices every day. Although my journey has not always been easy, staying committed to my recovery has helped me grow emotionally, mentally, and physically🤍 I am foreevvvveeer grateful for GRRC and Healing Hearts Lodge for helping me learn a new way of life. Reaching two years sober is an accomplishment that I am PROUD of, and it motivates me to continue building a better future for myself and for my kids.”

Kashmir has officially left the nest — with her nest full. ❤️ 🪺

From the moment she walked through our doors, Kashmir carried both fear and hope with her. Coming from jail, she was searching for stability, safety, and a fresh start. What we got to witness after that was a nothing short of a miracle.

Kashmir stayed focused on her recovery and committed herself fully to the process. She kept showing up, kept doing the work, and slowly began rebuilding her life piece by piece. During her time at HHL, her family grew, her healing deepened, and she was reunited with her son while also welcoming another beautiful baby into the world.

Some of the most meaningful transformations happen quietly — through consistency, humility, and willingness — and Kashmir is a perfect example of that.

What started as uncertainty turned into recovery, support, connection, and a future filled with possibility. Watching her step into this next chapter as a stronger woman and mother has been such a gift.

Kashmir, we are so proud of you and everything you’ve fought for. Congratulations on your successful transition. We are cheering you on every step of the way! 💛

Kashmir shared this with us: “I just want to say how thankful i was to be able to get into healing hearts lodge when i needed to get back on my feet when I didnt have anywhere to go with my son. I also built an unexpected amazing friendship with my first roommate/cousin. The healing hearts lodge helped me get everything and more i needed for my family and to learn the 12 step program and about accountability. I love the family i found because of the lodge and will be forever thankful and grateful because of the opportunity i was given.”

Yesterday we had the honor of celebrating not one, but two incredible women — Olivia and Brandy — as they officially graduated and earned their GEDs. 🎓✨

When Olivia and Brandy first came to Healing Hearts, they were carrying a lot of pain. They came in broken, lonely, afraid, and unsure of what their future would look like. For much of their lives, they lived in uncertainty, never fully knowing if things would fall apart or finally come together.

But both women made a decision: they were willing to do whatever it took to recover.

Day after day, choice after choice, they kept showing up for themselves even when it was hard. Through their dedication to recovery, they didn’t just find sobriety — they found confidence, purpose, stability, friendship, opportunities, and a future worth believing in.

Today, both Olivia and Brandy serve as house managers, continue pursuing their education, and now proudly hold their GEDs. What an incredible accomplishment and testimony to what can happen when women choose growth over giving up.

We are beyond proud of these two women. Their lives look completely different today because they kept going when it would have been easier to quit. Their futures are bright, full of promise, and filled with endless possibility.

Congratulations, Olivia and Brandy. We are so grateful you chose recovery and continue choosing it every single day. ❤️

Another successful transition ❤️ 🏠

Amelia completed her journey with us at Healing Hearts and moved into a place of her own.

While at healing hearts, Amelia quickly stepped into a leadership role among her peers. She naturally possessed these qualities and the recovery process helped her turn her liabilities into assets that could help her and those around her. Throughout her time here, she always carried herself as a caring and supportive sister to all the other women and children at the lodge. She was always there to help in any way she could.

When Amelia showed up to Healing Hearts, she was ready to take whatever step it took to recover. She welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world and we go to watch them both grow.

Although Amelia has taken the next step in her journey, she will definitely be missed. We wish her and her family the best as they continue on in her walk of recovery.

Amelia shared this with us:
“Coming into a place I never knew before I honestly was like oh it’s like a group home or like jail or like treatment . Little did I know it wasnt nowhere like those. It was a place that gave me a chance to ease myself to change for a better me today. Yes I know my authority perspective is a lil defiant when I was lil unease because all I knew was was clothes with use cook while intoxicated take showers under the influence and be a impulsive self sabotaging person and check boxes. You know work the system because i knew how to. Something changed alright I found my HP again and knew trusting the process of not knowing everyy little thing was OK and self acceptance. Also this place taught me how to be a mom a niece a sister a friend in a healthy way. All that really comes with a chance to change is grab it and run with it do the action part and stay on ya self about meetings a job short goals and give ya self grace and remember HONESTY , OPENMINDEDNESS, AND WILLINGNESS to treat and show ya self better way of living. Know ya worth. Set boundaries, call when you feel like you can do it on ya own because most of us try to self sponsor and take our will back at times . We tried that and this and same results. Be vulnerable and uncomfortable its ok. FIND YOU FOR YOU...... lol it’s been real and my feathers needed extra care and now I can stretch em and be ok today.”
