Mental Health Minute: When Your Tank Is Running Low
Some days you wake up and just do not have it. No big reason. Nothing dramatic happened. You are just low. Flat. Running on empty.
If that sounds familiar, you are not alone. And you are not broken.
Everyone has days where their energy or mood just does not show up. It does not mean something is wrong with you. It does not mean you are lazy or ungrateful. Sometimes your mind and body just need more than they have been getting.
We live in a world that expects a lot. Be productive. Stay positive. Keep going. So when a slow day hits, it is easy to make it mean more than it does. We pile a story on top of it. Telling ourselves we should be doing more, feeling better, or trying harder.
But what if you did not go there? What if a low energy day was just that, a low energy day?
Being easy on yourself does not mean you are giving up. It might mean slowing down on purpose, tackling one small thing instead of your whole list, or letting yourself rest without turning it into a guilt trip.
It is worth paying attention to how long the feeling lasts though. A day or two of feeling off is just part of being human. But if low energy or low mood sticks around for a few weeks, that is worth taking seriously. Talking to someone you trust, or a mental health professional, can really help.
You deserve the same patience you would give a good friend on a hard day. Even on the days when your tank is running low.
