The biggest mistake I see people make before they hire someone like me is buying all kinds of products their friends recommend.

Here's the #1 reason why that doesn't work: everyone's skin is different, and no two people have the exact same skin. Your skin won't respond the same as your friend's skin does for many different reasons.

Without a professional skin analysis done by a qualified, licensed esthetician, those products are as good as throwing money out the car window at 55 miles per hour.

I see this a lot, and feel it necessary to educate the public about false claims of skincare products referred to as "medical-grade", which was started in the medspa community in an attempt to differentiate certain skincare brands which perform no better than well-formulated professional brands.

Misrepresenting products is unethical and creates confusion and distrust.

Charging patients for a "medical" brand is fraudulent.

Roccoco Botanicals is moving their warehouse space from PA to Houston, TX in the coming weeks.

August 19 is the last day for orders to ship. The new warehouse will be shipping orders starting September 14.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

What is it, and why is it important for me as a practitioner to be educated about it?

My clients already know that they are receiving not only the best and most informed skin therapy in the Lowcountry, but that I am committed to furthering my education to provide that superior service.

While I am not a physician, my licensure permits me to treat symptoms arising in the skin from medically-diagnosed conditions like Ehlers-Danlos. I guarantee that other area providers are not familiar with E-D, and don't know how to treat its symptoms. This is where the best education comes into play, and directly benefits my clients.

It is often the case that topical treatment combined with your doctor's prescription can resolve skin problems faster. Who's doing your facials?

One reason new clients find me is because their former providers are doing treatments without consultations, resulting in adverse outcomes such as prolonged redness, irritation, and overall discomfort.

I ask a lot of questions to determine what treatment will be correct for a client given their complete history, which includes diet, lifestyle, medication, allergies, medical conditions, product usage, etc. I then use that information to design a treatment that will restore the client's skin health.

Without understanding why a complete consultation is necessary for a client's best outcome, providers who aren't taking the time to thoroughly consult with clients before starting a treatment are throwing spaghetti at the wall and crossing their fingers.

Don't take chances with your skin because the office is pretty, or the staff is nice. Ask about credentials and how consultations are done. It's your money, and you deserve to have a provider who actually cares about your result.
