We recently came across this graphic from that beautifully explained the difference between somatic movement and somatic therapy and how deeply connected they really are.

As “somatic” has become more of a buzzword online, it can be hard to distinguish what these practices actually mean.

Somatic movement often uses breath, grounding, body awareness, and intentional movement to support nervous system regulation and reconnection with the body. Somatic therapy incorporates those same mind-body connections within a therapeutic framework that may also include trauma processing, emotional regulation, attachment work, and nervous system education.

While they are different modalities, they are rooted in the same understanding: the body and mind are deeply interconnected in the healing process.

The body remembers.
The nervous system responds.
And healing is not purely cognitive.

What questions do you have about somatic practices or therapy?

One thing we talk about often is how healing and wellness begin with listening to the body instead of constantly pushing against it.

That is one of the reasons we have loved incorporating Sync Botanicals into our routine. 🩵

Rather than approaching wellness from a “one-size-fits-all” mindset, these teas are designed to support the different phases of the menstrual cycle and the changing needs of the body throughout the month.

From nourishment and replenishment during your period, to supporting energy, skin, mood, and nervous system shifts throughout each phase, the ritual becomes less about “fixing” the body and more about learning to work with it.

There is something deeply grounding about slowing down long enough to ask: What does my body need from me today?

Healing often begins with that reconnection. ✨ Use code LESLIESLEMMONS for $15 off your Sync Botanicals teas.

You can purchase them here: https://syncbotanicalsco.com/

June is PTSD Awareness Month. 🤍

Recovering from trauma is not an easy journey for anyone.
Sometimes it looks like setting boundaries.
Sometimes it looks like resting.
Sometimes it looks like taking the next right step.

Trauma can affect the nervous system, relationships, sleep, emotions, and the way we move through the world, but with support and safety, healing is possible.

This month, we honor the strength it takes to begin healing from Complex PTSD. Whether your journey started years ago or today, you deserve compassion every step of the way.

Somatic therapy focuses on the body’s role in healing because trauma and stress don’t just live in our thoughts, they live in our nervous system, too.

EMDR can be a powerful tool within a somatic approach because it helps the brain and body process experiences that may feel “stuck.” Through bilateral stimulation and nervous system regulation, EMDR supports the body in moving out of survival responses and toward a greater sense of safety, connection, and balance.

In this reel, Nina shares how EMDR and somatic therapy work together to support healing from the inside out. 🤍
