This is what improved function looks like in real life. When the tongue learns to rest where it belongs, the lips close naturally, the jaw relaxes, and the airway opens up. The whole face changes, because the whole system is finally working together.

What her parents noticed:
✔️ Less snoring
✔️ Less clenching & grinding
✔️ Consistent nasal breathing

Better breathing means better sleep. Better sleep means better everything.

If you’ve been wondering whether myofunctional therapy could help your child, this is your sign.

Is your child (or you) snoring every night? 😴

Snoring doesn’t always come from the same place.
It can start in the nose 👃
It can come from the soft palate
It can even involve the tonsils, adenoids, or deeper structures

When we go through a sleep questionnaire during your myofunctional therapy appointment, here’s what we’re really looking at:
✅ Restless sleep and tossing and turning (sometimes tied to low ferritin/iron levels)
✅ Vivid or scary dreams (often a sign the brain isn’t getting enough oxygen at night)
✅ Snoring and where it’s actually coming from

The path air travels from your nose all the way to your lungs needs to be open and clear. When it’s narrowed, it creates resistance. That resistance is what makes the tissue vibrate and snore.

We start by asking:
Are the nose and airways clear? 👃
Are tonsils and adenoids in the way?
Is there a deviated septum or enlarged turbinates?

You have to be able to breathe through your nose before any real healing can happen.

Tonight when you check on your child, look at how they are sleeping.

Mouth open. Head tilted back. Knees pulled to their chest. Restless and turned sideways. Snoring quietly or grinding their teeth.

These are not just sleep habits. These are signs of a little body working overtime just to breathe.

When the airway is struggling, the body shifts position all night trying to find relief. It looks like restlessness. It is actually exhaustion.

Adults do this too — jaw tension in the morning, always needing that one specific pillow, waking up tired no matter how many hours you got. Same pattern, just years later.

Sleep is supposed to be when the body recovers, regulates, and repairs. That cannot happen fully when breathing is getting in the way.

Not really... but I do teach proper tongue posture, breathing, and swallowing patterns to support better sleep, airway health, and oral function.

It’s a weird job description, but somebody’s gotta do it. 👅🆙

The tongue isn’t just free, it’s functional. 👅✨
This before-and-after shows what can happen when a tongue tie release is paired with proper myofunctional therapy.

➡️ Before: limited tongue mobility and restricted range of motion.
➡️ After: improved elevation, strength, and function following frenectomy + therapy.

A successful tongue tie release isn’t just about the procedure itself. The real magic happens when we retrain the muscles and build new oral habits so the tongue can do its job properly.

Why does that matter? Because tongue function impacts:
✔️ Breathing
✔️ Sleep quality
✔️ Swallowing
✔️ Speech
✔️ Facial growth and development

The goal isn’t simply more movement—it’s better function for life.

Have questions about tongue ties or wondering if you or your child could benefit from an evaluation? Comment GUIDANCE. 💙

🚨 One of the earliest signs your child may need orthodontic treatment isn’t crooked teeth...

It’s baby teeth with NO spaces between them.

Healthy baby teeth should look like a little picket fence: tooth, space, tooth, space. Those spaces are nature’s way of making room for the larger permanent teeth that are coming later.

When we don’t see those spaces, it can be a clue that the jaws aren’t developing to their full potential.

Why is this happening more often?

➡️ Mouth breathing
➡️ Limited breastfeeding opportunities
➡️ Allergies and airway issues
➡️ Soft modern diets that don’t require much chewing

The good news? Early intervention can make a huge difference.

Palatal expansion can help guide jaw growth, and myofunctional therapy helps train the muscles to support healthy breathing, chewing, swallowing, and oral rest posture.

Did your child’s baby teeth have spaces between them? Let me know in the comments 👇

“What about the lower jaw?” 🤔
We get this question a lot.

Here’s what’s actually happening: when a child has a deep overbite, the lower jaw gets trapped. It literally can’t move forward the way it’s supposed to as they grow.

So before we can do anything with the lower jaw, we have to free it first.

Here’s how we do that:
✔️ Expanding the upper jaw (maxilla) so there’s room to move
✔️ Getting the tongue forward and up through myofunctional therapy
✔️ Because the tongue is attached to the jaw — where the tongue goes, the jaw follows

We can’t grow the mandible. But we can reposition it. And that changes everything.

😉

Baby teeth should have gaps! Those tiny spaces tell a big story: your child’s jaw and airway are growing the way they’re supposed to.

Tight, touching baby teeth? That can signal a narrow jaw and limited space for adult teeth, which can lead to crowding, misalignment, and even airway issues.

The tongue is the secret behind healthy jaw growth. When it rests on the roof of the mouth, it gently guides the palate to expand, creating room for teeth and supporting nasal breathing.

Without proper tongue posture:
👅 The jaw may stay narrow
💨 Mouth breathing will continue
🦷 Teeth may crowd and overlap

That’s why early myofunctional intervention can be so powerful! We retrain tongue posture, breathing patterns, and oral habits, giving your child the foundation for a healthy smile and airway!
