Wall sits are one of the absolute best foundational exercises for building functional leg strength, protecting your knees, and keeping you moving easily as you age. But if you want to take your lower-body endurance to the next level, try adding controlled heel raises!
Holding that steady 90-degree angle locks in your quadriceps, glutes, and core—essential for climbing stairs and getting out of low chairs with ease. Raising your heels adds a dynamic twist, firing up your gastrocnemius and deep soleus muscles while challenging ankle stability and building Achilles tendon resilience. It’s an easy, low-impact way to get more out of a movement you already love.
Give this combination a try on your next workout! How many seconds can you hold before your legs start shaking? Let me know in the comments! Peak Point Fitness

The 1960s Harvard Study That Changed the American Diet
Long before the low-fat craze took over every grocery store aisle, two competing theories fought over what was actually causing heart disease in America. One side pointed at fat and cholesterol. The other side pointed at refined sugar.

Then a single 1967 literature review published by Harvard transformed a scientific debate into national policy—and built the modern food environment as we know it.

Who actually funded that study, what did the early drafts reveal, and why did it take decades for the truth to surface? We are looking at the hidden paperwork behind one of the most influential dietary consensus shifts in history.

Follow along as we continue breaking down 125 years of "settled science."

Ever feel like your doctor is just managing an insurance checklist instead of listening to you? You aren't imagining it.

Nurse Kate Johnson worked directly inside Blue Cross Blue Shield structuring patient incentive programs. In this clip, she reveals how policy shifts turned primary care into a system that measures compliance rather than actual health outcomes.

Your doctor isn't ignoring you because they don't care—their hands are tied by corporate metrics. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, but you don't have to stay stuck in an assembly-line medical system.

Partnering with a Direct Primary Care (DPC) physician or a functional health coach puts control back in your hands.

The quote for today is from George Bernard Shaw.

09/02/2026

THE FIRST STEP SHOULDN’T SCARE YOU
Stairs feel higher. The tub feels riskier. Getting your foot in the car takes both hands. That’s not “just getting older” — that’s weaker hip flexion, quads, and balance.

This banded high step (ankle band + a roller, chair, or counter for support) loads the iliopsoas and re**us femoris on the lift, the standing-leg quads and glute med for stability, and your balance all at once. Same pattern you use on stairs, curbs, and the shower.

Do it at home. 8–10 slow steps each side. Light fingertip on a support is enough.

What’s the one step that still makes you pause — stairs, tub, car, or curb?
