Online, the loudest microphone often gets the most followers. Unfortunately, the loudest microphone is not necessarily attached to the most qualified person.

When it comes to health and nutrition, the system is deeply flawed. Every day, I see misinformation shared by accounts with enormous followings - and hear from confused clients trying to make sense of the latest claims, trends, and contradictions.

At Whole Lifecycle Nutrition, we promise to provide honest, evidence-based information. If the research is limited, mixed, or nonexistent, we will tell you that. We will never pretend the evidence is stronger than it is just because certainty performs better online.

That is why our clients trust us with their questions. They know they will receive thoughtful, factual feedback, and can finally stop Google deep-diving for answers.

But yeah, stop eating bananas because they’re radioactive and sucking all the nutrients out of your smoothie if you want.

The evidence on this popular supplement is…underwhelming.

Honestly, I could be talking about almost any popular supplement. But today, I’m talking about evening primrose oil.

I see alllll the women taking it for cyclical breast pain and tenderness. The problem? When evening primrose oil has been studied in clinical trials, it has not performed meaningfully better than placebo.

That does not mean you imagined feeling better. The placebo effect is real - and symptoms like breast tenderness can naturally fluctuate. But it does mean we cannot confidently credit the supplement.

Before taking any supplement, ask:

What specific job is this supposed to do?
Is there decent evidence that it can do that job?
How will I know whether it is helping?
Are there risks or medication interactions?
When will I reassess whether I still need it?

And please discuss new, persistent, or changing breast pain with your healthcare provider rather than automatically assigning yourself another capsule.

Americans spend an enormous amount of money on supplements. Sometimes what we get in return is…very expensive urine.

Fun fact.

Bring these five questions to your next menopause appointment:

1. Could my symptoms be related to perimenopause - and what else should we rule out?
Not every midlife symptom is hormonal. Thyroid conditions, anemia, sleep disorders, medication effects, and other health concerns can look remarkably similar.
2. What treatment options are available for the symptoms affecting me most?
Ask about hormonal and nonhormonal medications, nutrition, movement, sleep support, and other evidence-based approaches, not just “try reducing stress.”
3. Am I a candidate for menopausal hormone therapy?
If so, ask about the potential benefits and risks for you, which formulation and route might be appropriate, and what follow-up would be needed.
4. What should we be monitoring during this stage of life?
Discuss bone, cardiovascular and metabolic health, as well as any screenings or laboratory testing appropriate for your symptoms, history, and risk factors.
5. When should I follow up, and what changes should I report sooner?
You should leave knowing what happens next, not simply return home with a recommendation to “see how it goes.”

Before your appointment, write down your symptoms, when they began, how often they occur, and how they affect your daily life. Bring your medication and supplement list, too.

A 15-minute appointment is not the ideal time to try to recall all of your symptoms, your supplements, your family history, and that one “off” period from six months ago.

Save this before your next visit.

Your gut has been trying to tell you something. You just thought it was normal. It’s not. Save this before you cut out another food group, try the simple thing first.

Many of us walk into medical appointments completely unprepared - and remember the 26 things we meant to mention while walking back to the car.

Maybe your symptoms do not seem significant enough. Maybe they feel silly, unrelated, or just “normal.” But if something is persistent or affecting your quality of life, it is worth discussing.

Here are five commonly dismissed symptoms to mention at your next appointment:

1. Persistent daytime fatigue
Struggling to stay awake at your desk or needing to push through every afternoon? Mention it. Fatigue has many possible causes and deserves more than “I guess I’m just busy.”
2. Difficulty falling or staying asleep
Stress may contribute, but so can hormonal changes, sleep disorders, medications, pain, and other health conditions.
3. Chronic digestive symptoms
Constipation, diarrhea, bloating, reflux, or abdominal discomfort may be common, but that does not mean you should simply live with them.
4. Joint or muscle pain
That persistent shoulder pain could be mechanical, related to hormonal changes, or caused by something else entirely. Either way, bring it up.
5. Frequent tearfulness or emotional changes
Regularly feeling unusually irritable, anxious, overwhelmed, or tearful deserves attention—especially when it is interfering with daily life.

Write your symptoms down before the appointment. Note when they began, how often they happen, and how they affect your life. You do not need to diagnose yourself; you just need to describe what you are experiencing.

Who knew exhaustion and constipation were not simply rights of passage, right?

The internet will not tell you this but i will. Six weeks postpartum is not a finish line. it is barely the beginning of recovery. If you are a new mom or you love one, share this.

Tag your unpredictable-cycle bestie ⏳

If your period feels like it runs on its own calendar these days, you’re not imagining it. Cycle length variability is one of the earliest and most common signs of perimenopause, often years before other symptoms show up.
