Earlier this week we held our annual Fall Community Breakfast. This year’s event was at historic Gore Place in Waltham and we welcomed more than 75 community members, healthcare leaders, elected officials and CRCH supporters from the Allston, Brighton, Watertown and Waltham neighborhoods.
CRCH CEO Matt Mullaney welcomed guests and shared some personal reflections on our mission and the communities we care for as well as our exciting plans for expanding our Waltham space. The project will begin in the coming months and significantly increase our capacity to provide much needed services to the Waltham and Watertown community.
We also welcomed Dr. Ed Huang, President of Mount Auburn Hospital who shared his personal story of how his father came to America as a young man and reflected on the close clinical partnership between Mount Auburn and CRCH for the past 25+ years.
Our keynote speaker was Juan Fernando Lopera, the Chief Community and Health Impact Officer at Beth Israel Lahey Health who immigrated to Massachusetts from Colombia when he was 12. Juan reflected on getting care at CRCH (then known as the Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center) as a young man, the vital role CRCH plays in serving our most vulnerable community members and the importance of the longstanding relationship between BILH and CRCH.
CRCH Chief Clinical Officer Klavdia Brisson closed the breakfast with updates on our clinical services and led a brief but spirited Q&A session with attendees. We’ll be sharing more about our Waltham expansion project in the coming weeks and how your involvement can help move us forward.
