On Tuesday, the North End Senior Programming Coalition hosted our Fall Senior Social at the North End Historical Museum. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the museum’s amazing displays and photographs documenting the rich history of the North End while enjoying time to socialize with friends and neighbors. Guests were also treated to snacks generously donated by the Golden Goose Market.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible, and a special thank you to the North End Historical Society of Boston, MA for welcoming us and providing such a wonderful space for the event.

National Recovery Month ended yesterday with an event organized by the NEW Health Substance Use Disorders (SUDS) Team. The event brought members of the Charlestown community together for an evening of food, conversation, and a panel discussion featuring individuals who shared their experiences with addiction and recovery.

The event offered attendees personal perspectives, supportive testimonials, and information about resources available to those who may be looking for help. It was also an opportunity to recognize the important work of our SUDS Team, not only through this event but in the support they provide to patients every day. A special thank you to everyone who came and to Monument Restaurant & Tavern for supporting our event and helping make it a wonderful experience for our community! We truly appreciate your generosity and support of NEW Health.

We want to hear from you! Your experiences, ideas, and perspective help us better understand what our community needs. Every three years, NEW Health conducts a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) to identify the health priorities of the neighborhoods we serve.

There are two ways to get involved: take our CHNA survey for a chance to win a $100 Stop & Shop gift card, or join us for a community focus group to share your thoughts in an open discussion. On Friday, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley visited NEW Health Charlestown for a tour of our facility. The visit included stops in both Family Medicine wings, as well as our Dental, Behavioral Health, and Vision departments, followed by a roundtable discussion highlighting additional programs and services, including Food Access, SUDS, and the School-Based Health Center.

We are incredibly grateful to the Congresswoman and her team for taking the time to visit NEW Health, learn more about the work we do in our community, and discuss how she can continue to support NEW Health and Community Health Centers across the country.

September 8 is 988 Day, a national day of awareness for the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline and an opportunity to remind everyone that mental health support is always within reach.

The theme for 988 Day 2026 is “988 Reasons: Your reason is reason enough.” You don’t have to be in crisis to reach out. Whether you’re going through something big, something small, or simply need someone to talk to, your reason for seeking support is reason enough.

X-Ray Services are back at NEW Health North End! Beginning Wednesday, September 9th, these services will run 8 am - 4 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Patients requiring non-urgent, clinically appropriate X-rays can be scheduled by our PSC team during these hours.

Our new X-Ray Technologist, Caroline Pasciuto, brings with her more than 22 years of radiology experience at Massachusetts General Hospital, with expertise in diagnostic imaging, outpatient orthopedics, pediatric imaging, and her most recent role as a Clinical Instructor within the Radiology Education Department.

Throughout her career, Caroline has remained committed to providing compassionate, high-quality patient care. Her attention to detail and warm, friendly disposition help patients feel comfortable and cared for throughout their imaging experience.

Caroline is excited to bring her experience and enthusiasm to the North End Waterfront Health Center and become part of this vibrant community. With her love of Italian cuisine and pastries, the North End feels like the perfect place to begin this next chapter. She’s looking forward to taking the perfect images—and finding the perfect cannoli along the way!

We are pleased to announce the awardees of the 2026 John Foster Community Primary Care and Public Health Scholarship and the Elaine Wilson Community Health Outreach and Public Service Scholarship. We extend sincere appreciation to all applicants for their time, effort, and commitment to community health. While not all applicants could be selected, the depth of experience and service reflected across submissions was both meaningful and inspiring. Truly.

For the John Foster scholarship, we congratulate Sonia Herrera Walwin for being granted this scholarship. Sonia has been a Certified Medical Assistant and Certified Phlebotomist with NEW Health for over 7 years. During that time, she obtained her bachelor's degree in sciences and healthcare management and is now pursuing required courses needed for an accelerated nursing program. Sonia shared her commitment, passion and dedication to continue to fulfill the mission that Dr. Foster and NEW Health represent. We are thrilled to celebrate Sonia and her many achievements.

For the Elaine Wilson scholarship, we congratulate Paige Fitzgerald for being granted this scholarship. Paige is a student at Northeastern University studying Behavioral Neuroscience and wishes to contribute to her community by combining her understanding and passion for supporting communities impacted by social determinants of health, limited access, and limited opportunities. Outside of the classroom, she also shares she is a certified Emergency Medical Technician at her school and through her lifetime has volunteered at organizations that have supported the North End community. We are honored to be part of Paige's healthcare journey.

These scholarships ground us in the incredible work of our founders and those who have come before us in this important and powerful movement to provide equitable, fair, respectful and high-quality care in our communities. We celebrate our movement, and the legacy of those who have led the way for our organization through these scholarships. We encourage continued engagement with future scholarship opportunities and community initiatives as part of our shared commitment to equitable and high-quality care.
