Many of us spend weeks, months, even years quietly questioning if our drinking is “bad enough.”

But here’s the hard truth: if you’re spending time quietly questioning if alcohol is a problem for you, you already have the answer.

Does that mean giving it up is easy? Of course not. But getting honest with yourself is a vital first step.

If you have that soft whisper inside that something needs to change and are ready to take the next step, send me a DM.

Recovery is possible and you are worth it.

In case you needed another reason to switch offline and get outside, Dr Judson Brewer’s latest article highlights an important research study on how time spent in nature supports positive body image.

As a nature~lover that has struggled with disordered eating & body image issues in the past, these findings reflect my own lived experience and are a big part of the reason I feel so passionate about bringing people together in wild spaces on group hikes and retreats.

Has nature supported your recovery journey? I’d love to know more in the comments below!

Nina Pick’s books have played a pivotal role in shifting shame-based narratives around addiction recovery. Her trauma and nervous-system informed lens offers a compassionate view of how additictive behaviors are not signs of weakness or brokenness, but powerful adaptations to get our needs met.

In her forthcoming book, Sober Secure: An Attachment-Based Guide to Dating, S*x & Love in Recovery, Nina helps fill the gaps in the recovery landscape on the relationship between attachment and addiction.

Grief is not a linear journey. It’s an ongoing process of healing and relearning how to move through life without someone in physical form.

In the latest podcast episode, Emily Bingham shares her story of losing Ian, her late husband and the father of her children to cancer at just 32 years old.

After Ian passed, Emily turned her pain into purpose, supporting other grievers through transformational fitness classes, an online platform called MoveThru, a book and media appearances that touched the lives of millions.

In this episode, she opens up about how she was once operating from a place of survival following Ian’s death and deeply held beliefs of unworthiness, and how she is approaching her work today.

This is an enlightening conversation for anyone who has experienced loss or is interested in learning the profound lessons death can teach us about making the most of our one wild and precious life.

When I read these words by Kelly Wilson, it really made me stop and think about how differently addiction would be perceived if we understood what was truly driving the behaviors.

There would be a lot less room for judgment and a lot more compassion and care.

If you’re struggling, know that it is not a sign of a character defect, lack of willpower or any other misconception about addiction that stigma has led us to believe. Addiction often starts as an attempt to meet very real human needs. Reach out if you need support. Recovery is possible and you are worth it. 🤍

What often gets missed in the discourse around nervous system regulation is that dysregulation is not a problem to be controlled or fixed.

As Robyn .ecology explains in this clip, “it’s an intelligent response of the body to go into stress responses… it’s actually protective.”

I love how she uses the phrase nervous system tending to encourage a more compassionate lens to understand ourselves and work with our system rather than fighting against it.

This clip is from Ep 126 of the Sun & Moon Sober Living Podcast, where we discuss:

✨ Ecosomatics
✨ The Innate Ecology Framework
✨ Interoceptive Awareness
✨ Cultivating kinship with nature
✨ The supports of nature
✨ Nervous system tending
✨ Post-traumatic growth & resilience

Robyn is an Ecosomatic Practitioner and author with a background in Environmental Studies, Social Work, Somatics, and Forest Therapy.

After her experiences integrating nature connection into her work as a therapist and crisis counsellor in the domestic violence and addictions sectors, Robyn created the Innate Ecology Ecosomatics Framework to guide others into somatic nature connection practice.

Robyn has spent thousands of hours in direct communion with wilderness across Europe and North America. She is also a mother of three, and cancer survivor.

I hope you enjoy this conversation!
