40 miles for her 40th birthday.

When foot pain threatened Sarah's goal, she stayed focused, adapted her training, and kept putting in the work.

Over the past several months, we've been fortunate to be a small part of her journey, helping her manage foot pain while continuing to train toward a challenge that meant a lot to her.

This past weekend, she crossed the finish line of her self-imposed 40 mile birthday run.

Most overuse injuries are not caused by one dramatic moment.

More often, they build gradually over time:
slightly more training load, less recovery, lingering soreness, poor sleep, accumulated fatigue, or small compensations that eventually become harder to ignore.

One of the most common things we hear in the clinic is:
“It just slowly started bothering me.”

Pain is not always a sign that something is seriously damaged, but it is often useful information that your body may not be adapting to current demands as well as it was before.

Addressing symptoms early is usually much easier than waiting until training, running, lifting, or daily activity becomes consistently limited.

At BSP, we focus on helping active people stay moving while improving tissue capacity, strength, recovery, and long-term performance.

One of the things we appreciate most about working with endurance athletes is how motivated and consistent this community is.

This time of year, though, we also start seeing how easy it is for training load to quietly build: an extra climb, a longer ride, back-to-back hard days, or turning an easy day into a moderate one because the weather is just too good.

A well-built training plan usually accounts for progression, recovery, and adaptation better than we give it credit for.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for long-term performance is trust the process and keep stacking consistent weeks together.

We’re a small, performance-driven practice focused on helping active individuals move better, get stronger, and stay active long term. This is a contract role in outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine with an initial Sunday / Monday / Wednesday schedule and opportunity to expand over time.
