Cuteness alert! Our littlest trick-or-treaters are reporting for duty! 🪖🚒👑

Lakeview Hospital was proud to join HCA Healthcare facilities across the country in participating in the eighth annual Crush the Crisis Prescription Drug Take Back Day, held in alignment with the Drug Enforcement Administration - DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Thanks to the support of our community and our partners at the Bountiful City Police Department, we collected over 80 pounds of unused and expired medications for safe disposal!

Proper medication disposal is an important step in preventing medication misuse, reducing the risk of accidental exposure, and helping create safer homes and healthier communities. We're grateful for opportunities like this to work alongside community partners and make a meaningful impact beyond the walls of our hospital.

Thank you to our community members, law enforcement partners, and Lakeview colleagues who helped make this effort a success!

During October's Domestic Violence (DV) Awareness Month, MountainStar Healthcare is shining a light on the long-term health and medical consequences of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and encouraging those affected to seek help. Dr. Matt Pollard—the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the Southern Utah Market—joined Good Day Utah hosts, Kelly Chapman & Dan Evans, on FOX 13 News to talk about research that suggests these effects can last decades or more.

In an observational cohort study published in June 2025 in BMJ Mental Health—Psychiatry at BMJ Group—the peer reviewed, open access journal from BMJ, data confirmed IPV-related physical abuse (IPV-PA) was associated with higher risk of ongoing clinical diagnoses of depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder symptomology, as well as concurrent mental health outcomes. Further, ongoing diagnoses remained higher in midlife in individuals reporting IPV-PA, despite abuse ending many years prior to assessment.

Domestic Violence includes many forms of abuse within relationships. While often associated with IPV, relationship violence can occur across different types of relationships—between partners, family members, and caregivers, as well as others. Different types of relationship violence include:
💜 Teen Dating Violence
💜 Child Abuse/Neglect
💜 Family Violence
💜 Elder Abuse
💜 Violence Against People with Disabilities
💜 Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)

If you or someone else is in danger, call 911 immediately. To utilize a wide range of local resources, contact Utah Domestic Violence Coalition, Capsa, and/or Fight Against Domestic Violence. You do not have to navigate this alone.

Healthcare professionals can be an important resource for survivors, and confidential support is available through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at (800) 799-7233.

Every breath counts, and respiratory therapists help make lifesaving care possible. During Respiratory Care Week, we join our broader HCA Healthcare network to recognize the important role respiratory therapists (RTs) play in caring for patients and supporting care teams.

With specialized training in lung and respiratory care, RTs provide expert care during critical moments — from emergency care and intensive care to recovery and ongoing support.

As part of HCA Healthcare, RTs collaborate with care teams across a network that supported approximately 47 million patient encounters in 2025, including 10 million emergency room visits. Through their clinical skill, compassion and collaboration, they help care for patients when it matters most.

To our RTs across HCA Healthcare, thank you for the specialized care you provide through critical moments.

On Oct. 25, 2025, Lakeview Hospital partnered with the Bountiful City Police Department to collect 55 pounds of unused or expired medications during HCA Healthcare’s seventh annual "Crush the Crisis" national prescription drug take back day. This year... we're preparing to do the same, if not more!

We're proud to help our community safely and anonymously dispose of unused or expired medications.

"Safe medication disposal is a simple but important step each of us can take to help prevent drug misuse and protect our communities," said Dr. Randy Fagin, senior vice president and chief quality officer of HCA Healthcare. "As we mark eight years of Crush the Crisis, we are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside our neighbors and community partners, working together to make the communities we call home safer and healthier for everyone."

Did you know? According to SAMHSA, an estimated 7.2 million people age 12 or older misused prescription pain relievers in 2025. Prescription medications can play an important role in care — but when they’re misused or no longer needed, knowing how to handle them safely matters.

Jared Beckstrand — a long-time pharmacist at MountainStar Healthcare Bountiful facility, Lakeview Hospital — joined Fox 13's The PLACE and Jenny Hardman on Tuesday to discuss Crush the Crisis 2026—our health system's upcoming prescription drug take back day event.

WATCH: https://bit.ly/4sjZ9fh via FOX 13 News

In 2025, our colleagues across HCA Healthcare, local law enforcement partners and communities nationwide came together to — collecting 19,846 pounds of unused or expired medications, the equivalent of approximately 13.6 million doses, at more than 150 collection sites. Since Crush the Crisis became an enterprise initiative in 2019, we have collected more than 108,500 pounds of medications for safe disposal. This year, MountainStar Healthcare is once again joining the cause, thanks to our local law enforcement partners, to help make safe medication disposal more accessible.

Help us on Saturday, Oct. 24, held in alignment with the Drug Enforcement Administration - DEA's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, by safely and anonymously dropping off medications at five of our hospitals along the Wasatch Front from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
