Tongue ties arenât just about breastfeeding and theyâre not something a child âgrows out of.â
A restricted tongue can affect the way we eat, breathe, speak, sleep, and develop over time. For some babies, it may look like painful nursing, poor milk transfer, clicking while feeding, excessive gas, or slow weight gain. As children grow, it can contribute to challenges with chewing, swallowing, speech, oral hygiene, or even keeping the mouth closed comfortably at rest.
As an adult it can result in headaches, jaw pain, neck and shoulder tension, set back/ retruded jaws, mouth breathing, and snoring.
Not every oral tie needs treatment. But everyone deserves a thorough assessment from a provider who understands both structure AND function.
The goal isnât to revise every oral tie. The goal is to help every tongue move the way it was designed to.
When the tongue can function well, everything from feeding to breathing has the opportunity to function better too.
