Warmer weather means more time outside and more chances for bug bites. ๐ŸฆŸ๐Ÿ

Mosquitoes, ticks, bee stings and spider bites can all cause redness, swelling, itching and irritation to the skin. Most bites improve within a few days, but worsening or long-lasting symptoms may need medical attention.

For relief at home, try over-the-counter anti-itch creams, pain relievers and a cold compress. ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธRemember! Avoid scratching to help prevent infection.

If symptoms donโ€™t improve, our Urgent Care team is here to help!

A hernia doesn't always start with a bulge.

For many people, the first signs are discomfort, pressure or a pulling sensation that gets worse when standing, coughing, lifting or exercising.

Common symptoms can include:
โ€ข A visible bulge
โ€ข Groin or abdominal pain
โ€ข Pressure near a previous incision
โ€ข A heavy feeling in the abdomen
โ€ข Hip or pelvic discomfort

If symptoms are interfering with your daily life, it may be time to talk with your doctor.

Every second counts when it comes to cardiac arrest, and it often happens closer to home than you think.

Nearly ๐Ÿณ๐Ÿฌ% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen at home, meaning the life you save could be someone you love: a child, partner, parent or friend. Each year, more than ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿฌ,๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ people in the U.S. experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

The good news? CPR, especially when started right away, can double or even triple a personโ€™s chance of survival. Knowing how to perform CPR and use an AED can make all the difference.

Asparagus is currently in season, which makes now the perfect time to enjoy this nutrient-packed vegetable.

Low in calories (just 20 in half a cup) and rich in antioxidants like vitamins C and E, asparagus is also a good source of fiber to support digestion.

It may help support healthy blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure and immunity.

Enjoy it raw or cooked in salads, stews, soups and more.

Pick some up at your local grocery store or farmers market while itโ€™s at its peak.

DYK? More than 170 foods can cause allergic reactions, but just nine account for about 90% of all food allergy reactions.

These include peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish and sesame.

Even foods that seem safe can contain hidden allergens, so itโ€™s important to read labels carefully. Major allergens in the U.S. are clearly listed in plain language, but itโ€™s still important to watch for hidden ingredients and cross-contamination.

Dining out? Call ahead and speak with a chef or manager about their food preparation and allergy policy, even if it appears safe for you.

Sprained ankle or strained muscle? Remember ๐—ฅ๐—œ๐—–๐—˜ for immediate relief.

The RICE Method can help reduce pain, swelling and inflammation in soft-tissue injuries.

๐—ฅest: Give your body time to heal
๐—œce: Apply cold packs in 10-minute intervals
๐—–ompression: Wrap the area with gentle pressure starting with area furthest from the body and work in
๐—˜levation: Raise the injury above heart level

RICE is a great first step, but be sure to follow up with your doctor to rule out a more serious injury.
