Thanks for sharing City of Hope Chicago
For years, Chris Parrish dealt with symptoms that didn’t seem to make sense: indigestion, back pain, unexplained weight loss. “When I say awful, it was the worst acid reflux, gut awfulness that I've ever experienced."
She kept going back to her doctor for answers, but nothing seemed to explain it. It wasn’t until her symptoms became impossible to ignore that further testing finally revealed what was going on: Chris had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. At age 40, she was told she had six months to live.
After hearing the same prognosis more than once, Chris began exploring care elsewhere.
Chris traveled from Maine to City of Hope Chicago for a third opinion and committed to the care plan she and her team built together. “It was my job to beat cancer, and I was relentless in that job.”
More than 17 years later, Chris is still here and using her experience to support others facing the same diagnosis.
