Why can't I just stop thinking about it? πŸ€”

Because "just stop thinking about it" is one of the only mental instructions that reliably backfires. Try it right now: don't think about a pink elephant. You just did.

Your brain doesn't have a delete button. It has a search function. So the second you try to suppress a thought, your brain goes looking for it to make sure you're avoiding it. Which means you find it. Every time.

This is why white-knuckling your way through anxious thoughts usually makes them louder, not quieter.

The goal isn't to stop having the thought. It's to change your relationship to it, so it can show up without hijacking the rest of your day.

That's not willpower. That's a skill. And it's one you can actually learn. 🧠

What's the thought your brain just won't let go of? Drop it in the comments, or just an emoji if you'd rather keep it vague. πŸ‘‡

Imagine missing out on vacation because your panic made you stay home. πŸ˜”

Not because you didn't want to go. Not because you couldn't afford it. Because panic convinced you the airport wasn't safe, or the flight wasn't safe, or being far from home wasn't safe. So you canceled. Or you never even booked it in the first place.

That's the real cost of panic disorder. It's not just the racing heart or the tight chest for a few minutes. It's the trip you didn't take. The memories you didn't make. The life that got smaller and smaller while panic convinced you it was keeping you safe. ✈️

Here's the truth: panic lies. It mistakes discomfort for danger every single time. And the more you avoid, the louder it gets.

You can learn to travel again. You can learn to trust your body again. This is treatable. πŸ™Œ

If panic's been deciding where you don't go, let's change that. Link in bio. 🧳

You don't actually want to overcome your OCD.
You want:
οƒΌ To leave the house without checking the stove four times πŸ”₯
οƒΌ To send a text without rereading it fifteen times before hitting send πŸ“±
οƒΌ To touch a doorknob and just... keep walking πŸšͺ
οƒΌ To have a thought and let it pass instead of investigating it for an hour πŸ’
οƒΌ To trust yourself without needing constant reassurance 🀝
οƒΌ To spend your mental energy on your actual life instead of your rituals ⏳
οƒΌ To sit with uncertainty without it feeling like an emergency 🧘
οƒΌ To be present with the people you love instead of stuck in your head πŸ’›

Friendly reminder: your anxiety is like 1 million wind-up bunnies. 🐰🐰🐰

You wind up one thought and suddenly there's a hundred more hopping off in every direction. None of them checking in with each other. None of them waiting their turn. Just pure chaotic bunny energy all day long. πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Here's the good news though: you don't need to catch all million bunnies at once. You just need a system for slowing the chaos down and rounding a few up at a time. 🎯

That's literally what anxiety therapy does. It's not about stopping every thought from hopping off. It's about teaching your brain a calmer way to respond when the bunnies start multiplying. ✨

If your mind's been running its own little stampede lately, you don't have to sort it out alone. πŸ™Œ

Advice from a sleep therapist: If you wouldn’t set a 5am alarm to do something, don’t stay up until midnight doing it.

Would you wake up at 5am to doom scroll Instagram? ❌
Would you wake up at 5am to binge Love Island? ❌
Would you wake up at 5am to reorganize your closet? ❌
Would you wake up at 5am to fall down a true crime rabbit hole? ❌
Would you wake up at 5am to answer emails? ❌

So why are you staying up until midnight doing it? πŸ€”

If you wouldn't set an alarm for it, don't stay up for it either. ✨

Insomnia isn't always about being unable to sleep. Sometimes it's about training your brain to treat bed as the place where all of this happens instead of the place where sleep happens. πŸ›οΈ

If this is your night most nights, insomnia therapy can help you break the pattern. Link in bio. πŸ‘†

POV: you had one two-minute conversation to have and rehearsed it for 45 minutes instead. 🚿

If you've ever over-explained a simple text, over-apologized for a small ask, or rehearsed a boundary so many times it lost all its power, this one's for you.

The rehearsal isn't really about getting the words right. It's about trying to control how someone's going to react to you. Spoiler: you can't. You just have to send the text.

I say this as someone who treats anxiety for a living, and still relates to this a little too much. Link in bio if you want to talk about it.

Every therapist has a version of this face. πŸ˜…

If you've ever said "I don't really have anxiety, I just think about things a lot" and then proceeded to speak for 45 uninterrupted minutes... I see you, and I promise it's more common than you think.

The words we use to downplay what we're feeling are often the biggest clue about what's actually going on. "I just overthink." "I'm just a planner." "I'm just being cautious." Sometimes "just" is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

If any part of that sounded familiar, it might be worth actually talking about it. Link in bio for a free 15-minute consult.
