In the summer of 1969, before the first chord rang out at Woodstock, half a million people grew quiet — and followed one man in orange robes in a moment of collective stillness.

That man was Sri Swami Satchidananda, who opened the festival with a message of peace and the sound of Om. Three years earlier, in 1966, he had planted the seed of Integral Yoga® in a small New York City apartment. Sixty years later, that seed has flowered into Ashrams, Institutes, and Centers around the world — and into countless lives transformed by an easeful body, a peaceful mind, and a useful life.

This July, near the full moon of Guru Poornima, we gather to celebrate both: the Guru and the 60th anniversary of the path he gave us. 🪷

This year, the Light of Truth Universal Shrine — the LOTUS — turns 40. And we'd love for you to celebrate with us.

This summer, The Sound of Silence: A Summer Silent Retreat invites you to step away from the noise and turn inward at Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville.
