At J&J Home Care, we have the privilege of caring for some truly incredible people, and our beloved client, Pat, is one of them.
Pat is the biggest Ed Sheeran fan you’ll ever meet. Unfortunately, due to the progression of dementia and other health challenges, she is no longer able to attend the concert she has been looking forward to for so long.
Her daughter wrote the beautiful letter below in hopes that it might somehow reach Ed. We’re sharing it with one simple wish: that this story reaches him.

Amy’s letter to Ed:
Dear Mr. Sheeran,
My mother has been a devoted fan of yours for many years. At one point, she even declared herself your “Honorary Grandmother” should you ever need one. 😊
A few years ago, she traveled to Foxborough, Massachusetts, to see you perform twice, and she has been looking forward to your upcoming September show ever since. Perhaps you've grown accustomed to hearing stories like this, but I imagine it must still be remarkable to learn how deeply your music impacts people you've never met.
Over the past two years, your music has carried my mother through some of the most difficult chapters of her life: surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation treatments, the sale of her home, a move into assisted living, and countless challenging moments in between. She keeps a picture of you in her apartment and gently “boops your nose” every time she walks past it. While dementia has clouded many of her memories—including, at times, exactly how I am related to her—you remain a bright and recognizable presence in her world.
As September draws closer, I've been struggling with the heartbreak of telling her that she won't be able to attend your concert after all. She now requires a full-time aide, relies on a walker, and even a short outing can leave her exhausted. Despite every accommodation we could arrange, including a handicap placard and wheelchair assistance, the reality is that attending the show would simply be too much for her physically.
I'm writing to ask if there might be any possibility of receiving an autographed photo from you. While it won't replace the experience of seeing you perform, I know it would mean the world to her and bring her tremendous joy.
My mother is one of the bravest people I know. Her faith is unwavering, and her life has been defined by love, kindness, and care for those around her. Any consideration you could give to this request would be deeply appreciated.
