Happy birthday, Coffey County Hospital! We saw our first patient exactly 72 years ago today—and have been honored to be a part of so many lives since then. Thank you to everyone who has trusted us with their care over the years!

General Surgeon Matthew Turner, M.D., recently joined our medical staff at Coffey County Hospital. He performs procedures here on Thursdays. Dr. Turner received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University and his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine. Following his surgical residency in Buffalo, NY, Dr. Turner established his practice in Emporia in 2012.

Did you know there are programs that can help make your Medicare prescriptions more affordable?
No one should have to choose between groceries and prescriptions. If you're struggling with Part D drug costs, here are four ways to save:

Extra Help: A federal program that helps pay your Part D premiums and lowers your drug costs. You may also qualify to change plans more often and have any late enrollment penalties waived. Income and asset limits apply.

Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs): State programs that help cover Medicare costs like premiums and cost-sharing for people with limited income and savings. If you qualify, your Part B premium will no longer be deducted from your Social Security check.

Be on the lookout for test kits! DNA, genetic, neurological, and even cancer test kits are being sent to Medicare beneficiaries without ever asking for them. If you get a test kit delivered to you, report it to the SMP by calling 800.860.5260! This could be scam.
