Back-to-school season is here, and who better to offer a little wisdom than those who have experienced life's lessons firsthand?

Each year, our Deacon Pointe Assisted Living residents share their best advice for children heading back to school, and it has become one of our favorite traditions. From reminders to be kind and work hard to encouragement to make friends and enjoy every moment, their words come straight from the heart.

The Gathering Room was full of energy and excitement on Thursday as the Twin Lakes Silver Swans took on the Elon University Women's Volleyball Team in a spirited game of Chair Volleyball!

From bumping and setting to cheering and laughing, both residents and student-athletes had an absolute blast. The friendly competition brought out plenty of team spirit, but the real victory was the opportunity to connect across generations and create lasting memories together.

A special thank you to the Elon Phoenix Women's Volleyball Team (and their photographer) for spending the afternoon with us and making this event so much fun. We loved having you on campus and hope you'll come back for a rematch!

While awards and recognition are appreciated, what matters most is what they represent: a caring team that is committed to helping residents live confidently, safely, and fully. From wellness programs and healthcare services to the daily interactions that make our community special, this achievement reflects the dedication of employees across every department.

We're grateful for this recognition and even more grateful for the residents who call Twin Lakes home.

These employees were also among the many team members we recently celebrated who have reached five or more years of service at Twin Lakes. To recognize their commitment, we hosted an ice cream party and distributed new badge reels displaying each employee's milestone years of service. It was a wonderful opportunity to honor our dedicated employees whose loyalty and service help make Twin Lakes thrive. Congratulations to all of our milestone employees, and thank you for being part of the Twin Lakes family!

Cartoonist Scott Adams once wrote, "There's no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end." This beautiful photo captures how those ripples of kindness come full circle at Twin Lakes.

In the photo, Auxiliary member Elizabeth accepts a donation of adult bibs handcrafted by Moneta Springs resident, Jim. The bibs will be available for purchase at our gift shop, The Swan's Nest.

Jim began sewing during the COVID lockdowns while living in Independent Living. What started as a hobby making tote bags soon evolved into sewing adult bibs after a Swan's Nest volunteer asked if he could create them for the shop.

Over the years, sewing has provided Jim with a sense of purpose and fulfillment as he transitioned from Independent Living to Assisted Living and, most recently, to Memory Care. When he needed a helping hand to continue his work, Neighbor to Neighbor volunteer Bonnie stepped forward to assist him.

Through Bonnie's gift of service, Jim has been able to continue creating for others, and the cycle of kindness continues. One good deed inspires another, reminding us that Twin Lakes is truly a community built on compassion, connection, and care.

A special thank you to Diane, Jim's daughter, for sharing both this photo and the story behind it. Her heartfelt words beautifully capture the spirit of generosity that thrives throughout our community.
