To the mothers who carry so much, hold so much, and give so much of themselves every single day — we see you. 🤍

So many moms become the steady place for everyone else while quietly setting their own needs aside. You show up when you’re exhausted. You nurture while running on empty. You carry invisible mental loads, emotional weight, and the pressure to keep going even when no one notices how much you’re holding.

But moms need care too.
Support too.
Rest too.
Space to be human too.

You do not have to pour from an empty cup to prove your love.

This Mother’s Day, we honor the strength of mothers — not just in what they give, but in allowing themselves to receive care, connection, and support as well. 💛

Sometimes emotions show up before we have words for them.
Art can become a safe place to explore, process, and gently understand what’s happening beneath the surface.

Your creativity doesn’t need to be perfect or polished. It simply needs space to exist. 🎨

“Your creativity holds stories your heart is still learning to tell.” ✨

Complex PTSD doesn’t always look like what people expect.

It can show up in the body long after the situation is over—through feeling on edge, shutting down, emotional overwhelm that seems to come out of nowhere, or difficulty trusting that safety is real.

Many adults with complex trauma don’t just struggle with “memories.” They struggle with nervous system responses that learned how to survive in environments where safety was inconsistent or unpredictable.

In therapy, we don’t try to rush past that.

Art therapy offers a different entry point. Instead of forcing words for experiences that feel overwhelming or hard to name, we slow down. We use image, color, and expression to help the nervous system communicate in a way that feels safer and more contained.

There is no pressure to tell your story perfectly here.

We listen to what shows up—visually, emotionally, and somatically—and we work gently from there.

Healing doesn’t start with pushing through.
It starts with safety, pace, and enough space for your system to settle.

If you’ve ever felt like your reactions are “too much” or “don’t make sense,” you’re not alone—and there is a way to work with that gently.

You are not too much. And your story is not too complicated.

So many adults come into therapy carrying the belief that they need to “sort themselves out” before they’re ready to be understood. That they should be more calm, more clear, more put together before they take up space with what they’ve lived through.

But healing doesn’t ask you to simplify your story first.

In art therapy, we don’t start with the pressure to explain everything perfectly. We start with what’s present—what shows up in color, shape, texture, silence. Sometimes what words can’t hold yet, images can begin to safely contain.

Especially with complex trauma and grief, the experience is often layered. Mixed emotions. Contradictions. Parts of you that feel far away from each other. That doesn’t mean you’re too much—it means you’ve had to carry a lot.

Therapy is not about shrinking your experience so it’s easier to handle. It’s about creating enough safety and containment that all of you is welcome to be seen at a pace that feels manageable.

You don’t have to earn space here by being more simple, more healed, or more “ready.”

You get to come as you are.

When your child brings artwork home from art therapy, it can be hard to know how to respond.

Do you ask questions?
Try to understand it?
Hang it up right away?

If you’ve ever felt unsure—you’re not alone.

The moments after session matter, but you don’t have to get it perfect.

Instead, think of your role as creating a space where your child feels safe, respected, and in control of their story.

👉 Swipe through for a few simple ways to support them

Often, it looks like letting them lead, staying curious, and giving them space to share (or not share) in their own time.

Sometimes the most supportive thing you can say is:
“Do you want to tell me about it?”

Your child’s art therapist is holding the deeper work in session—
and at home, your presence helps reinforce that safety.

Not every piece needs to be explained.
And that’s okay 🤍
