Emotional care doesn't always look like "counseling."

Sometimes it's having someone listen without judgment.

Sometimes it's helping a family have a conversation they've been avoiding.

Sometimes it's music when words are difficult to find, spiritual care when big questions arise, or simply another person sitting beside you in a hard moment.

Hospice surrounds patients and families with different kinds of support because emotional well-being is deeply personal—and so is comfort.

Some lives are held for only a short time—and loved for a lifetime.

Today, on Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day, we honor the babies who are deeply loved and remembered, and the parents and families who carry their absence.

Pregnancy and infant loss can bring profound grief that isn't always visible or fully understood by others. You deserve space to speak your baby's name, remember, grieve, and receive support without judgment or expectation.

To every family remembering today: your love matters. Your loss matters. Your grief matters.

Sometimes what a patient or family needs most isn't another answer.

It's someone who will listen.

Hospice social workers help patients and families navigate the emotional and practical realities that can accompany serious illness—from changing family roles and difficult decisions to fear, stress, grief, and uncertainty.

They offer a place to talk openly about what's happening and what you're carrying.

You don't have to have the right words. Sometimes, simply having someone there to hear them is enough to begin.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to everyone who came to support Faith Hospice at our annual luncheon this past week which highlighted the impact and importance of complementary therapies for patients and their families. This support helps make therapies like massage, music therapy, pet therapy, and aromatherapy available to patients at no cost.

We're so grateful to all of our sponsors and Cascade Country Club for making this event possible year after year. Thank you for continuing to be a champion of Faith Hospice!

A serious illness can bring much more than physical symptoms.

There may be fear about what's ahead. Grief over what's changing. Difficult conversations with family. Questions about meaning, relationships, or what matters most now.

Hospice makes room for those needs, too.

Faith Hospice's interdisciplinary team supports the whole person—providing not only physical comfort, but emotional, social, and spiritual support for patients and the people who love them.

Because feeling heard, understood, and supported is part of comfort, too.

There's something about the presence of an animal that can make a room feel different.

For hospice patients, pet therapy can provide companionship, encourage interaction and create moments of joy during a difficult season.

Sometimes comfort doesn't look like we expect.

Sometimes it has four paws, a wagging tail and a very happy hello.

Pet therapy is among the complementary approaches used by some hospice programs to enrich quality of life.

In 2006, driven by generous donors and visionary leaders, Trillium Woods became the first inpatient hospice facility in the greater Grand Rapids area. Today, it remains the preeminent inpatient hospice center in the area, serving 385 patients and providing 6,685 total days of care just last year.

Thank you to everyone who came together at our 20th Anniversary celebration to honor twenty years of championing in-hospice care.
