A little transparency from your health insurance agent…

Over the years, I’ve personally submitted many claims for clients as a courtesy because I genuinely want to help. However, as my client base continues to grow, I’ve realized that this process is no longer sustainable.

What many people don’t realize is that once a claim is submitted, it goes directly to the insurance company’s claims department. I am not automatically notified of claim progress, payment status, approval decisions, or processing updates.

Moving forward, clients will be submitting their own claims directly to the insurance company. This is actually the standard process and ensures that claim information goes straight from the policyholder to the claims department.

If you submit a claim, please allow at least 30 days for processing before requesting a status update. If that timeframe has passed and you still have questions, I am happy to help point you in the right direction and assist where I can.

My goal is to spend my time helping clients choose the right coverage, answer policy questions, and provide the service I’m best equipped to provide.

📢 Claims Submission Update;
(This may or may not apply to all clients, only clients with plans that allow them to self pay then turn in for reimbursement)

For the past several years, I have gone above and beyond by personally submitting claims for many of my clients as a courtesy. While I have been happy to help, the volume of claims and follow-up requests has grown to the point that I need to make a change moving forward.

Effective immediately, clients will be responsible for submitting their own claims directly to the insurance company. This is actually the process preferred by the company and ensures that claim information goes directly from the policyholder to the claims department.

Please keep in mind that claim processing is not immediate. In most cases, it can take several weeks for a claim to be reviewed, processed, and paid. If you have submitted a claim, I recommend allowing at least 30 days before requesting a status update.

I do not receive automatic notifications regarding the progress of individual claims, and the insurance company does not provide me with ongoing updates for hundreds of clients. Because of that, I am often unable to provide real-time claim information.

If more than 30 days have passed and you have not received payment or correspondence from the insurance company, please let me know and I will be happy to help point you in the right direction.

Of course, my clients can still reach out to me and ask how to file a claim and I will point you in the right direction.

📞 A quick reminder about how I work:

I do NOT ignore my clients.

If you call and I don’t answer immediately, it is almost always because I am already on a scheduled appointment helping another client.

Just like a doctor’s office, attorney’s office, or accountant’s office, I schedule appointments so I can give each person my full attention. The clients who took the time to schedule deserve my focus during their appointment, and I am not going to interrupt their time to answer another call.

That doesn’t mean I won’t get back to you.

If you leave a voicemail or send a text, I will respond as soon as I am available. In many cases, I can even give you a specific time when I’ll be able to call you back.

I truly appreciate every client who trusts me with their insurance needs, but please understand that someone else’s emergency does not automatically mean I can abandon the clients I am already helping.

Respecting scheduled appointments allows me to provide better service to everyone.
