🇺🇸 I MET A REAL-LIFE BADASS TODAY, AND I WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT HER! 🇺🇸
Today I had the privilege of meeting Sandy Bower, the founder and director of Vets Returning Home in Roseville, Michigan. And let me tell you, this woman is an absolute force of nature!
Sandy was homeless herself at just 14 years old, became a single mom at 15, and went on to build a successful business.
But here's what really got me. When she retired, she took her OWN retirement savings and bought a building to create a safe place for homeless veterans.
She didn't just TALK about making a difference. She put her own money, heart, and life into doing something about it!
And the results are incredible. ❤️
🇺🇸 More than 2,200 veterans housed since the organization began.
🇺🇸 Approximately 250 veterans helped each year.
🇺🇸 A 43-bed facility providing food, shelter, stability, and hope.
🇺🇸 Assistance with employment, benefits, life skills, and finding permanent housing.
🇺🇸 And here's the kicker. They receive NO government funding!
They depend on donations, volunteers, and people who care enough to step up.
Think about that for a minute. These men and women served our country, and far too many return home only to find themselves struggling with homelessness, trauma, and rebuilding their lives.
They fought for us. The least we can do is fight for them.
I'm incredibly proud to share that The Junkluggers of Ann Arbor & Southeast Michigan is partnering with Vets Returning Home as one of our charity partners! 💚
We'll be working to provide donations of food, clothing, furniture, household goods, and other useful items to help support these veterans and their transition into stable housing.
This is EXACTLY the kind of thing I love about my Junkluggers business. We don't just haul stuff away. We have the opportunity to take things that someone no longer needs and put them into the hands of someone who desperately does.
One person's unwanted furniture could help a veteran turn an empty apartment into a HOME. And that's pretty damn awesome.
So here's my challenge to you. Take a few minutes to learn about this organization. Donate if you can. Volunteer if you have time. Share their mission. Every little bit matters.

Sandy, it was an absolute honor meeting you today. Thank you for reminding me what determination, compassion, and putting your money where your mouth is really look like.
The world needs more Sandys. And our veterans deserve every bit of support we can give them. 🇺🇸❤️
