We're grateful to South Louisiana Community College for helping students like Ashia build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed in healthcare.

Ashia's journey from SoLAcc student to A Place at Home's 2026 National Caregiver of the Year demonstrates the impact quality education can have on both a career and the lives of those being served. We are proud to see her hard work recognized on a national level and thankful for the role SoLAcc played in helping shape such an exceptional caregiver.

Congratulations again, Ashia, and thank you, SoLAcc, for investing in the future of healthcare in Acadiana!

June Blog Spotlight: Father’s Day Reflections

As Father’s Day approaches, many of us find ourselves reflecting on the men who shaped our lives through their strength, guidance, sacrifice, and love. As our fathers and father figures age, those roles often begin to change, and we may find ourselves becoming the caregivers.

In this month's blog, "Father’s Day Reflections: Caring for the Men Who Once Took Care of Us," we explore the unique challenges and rewards of supporting aging fathers while honoring their dignity, independence, and legacy. Caring for an aging parent is one of the greatest expressions of gratitude and love we can offer.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our country.

At A Place at Home – Lafayette, we are especially mindful of the sacrifices made by our veterans, military families, and the heroes who never made it home. Their courage built the freedoms we enjoy every day.

As a veteran-owned agency, Memorial Day holds deep meaning for our team. We remember. We honor. And we remain grateful.

Wishing everyone a meaningful Memorial Day as we reflect, remember, and spend time with those we love. ❤️🤍💙

May has been a whirlwind in the very best way at A Place at Home - Lafayette! From serving seniors and supporting families across Acadiana to celebrating the incredible people who make compassionate care possible every single day, this month reminded us just how special our team truly is.

As part of Louisiana’s recognition of St. Joseph the Worker Day, we took time to honor the hands and hearts behind the care. Each of our professional caregivers received a special “St. Joseph’s Toolkit” as a small token of gratitude for the work they do with such compassion, patience, and dedication.

Each toolkit symbolized:
🤲 Hands for the care they give
❤️ Heart for encouragement and faith
🩺 Health for protection and wellness
🧠 Head for peace and clarity

At A Place at Home - Lafayette, we know caregiving is more than a job. It is a calling woven together with kindness, sacrifice, and countless moments that change lives. To our amazing workers: thank you for being the steady hands and caring hearts our clients depend on every day. You are deeply appreciated.

Today, May 1, A Place at Home - Lafayette is proudly joining the State of Louisiana in celebrating St. Joseph the Worker Day! We pause today to thank the dedicated working men and women across our state and nation — including school teachers, healthcare professionals, energy workers, first responders, construction teams, farmers, truck drivers, retail and hospitality staff, and countless others who form the backbone of Louisiana. We especially honor motherhood, the greatest vocation of them all. Inspired by the virtues of St. Joseph — protector, provider, prudent, patient, and hardworking — today we simply say: THANK A WORKER!”

Spring is here… and it’s the perfect time to refresh more than just your home.

For many seniors—especially those living with Parkinson’s—this season can bring new challenges along with new beginnings. From fall risks to changes in mobility, even small things around the home can make a big difference in safety and independence.

At A Place at Home – Lafayette, we believe home should be a place of comfort, confidence, and dignity—no matter the season.

Our latest blog shares simple, practical ways to help seniors thrive at home this spring, while also recognizing the unique needs of those living with Parkinson’s disease.

A few things we highlight:
• Easy home safety updates to prevent falls
• How routines and support can improve daily life
• Ways families can stay proactive instead of reactive

Because the goal isn’t just staying at home… it’s thriving there.

If you or someone you love could use a little extra support this season, we’re always here to help.

As spring arrives in Acadiana, it brings sunshine, fresh air, and the perfect opportunity to refresh our homes and routines. At A Place at Home – Lafayette, care isn’t just what we do… it’s who we are. When one of our clients needed his newly delivered mobility scooter assembled, we didn’t hesitate. Larry, a proud veteran and part of the ownership team, stepped in and got it done. No fuss, no delay… just service, respect, and a job well done. From one veteran to another… mission accomplished.

There’s something powerful about veterans taking care of veterans, and it almost always involves a shared understanding, a quiet bond, and a commitment to always show up. Because here, we don’t just provide care — we make things happen.

Wherever home is, we’re there.

Today was one of those days that just fills your cup.

A Place at Home - Lafayette had the absolute pleasure of spending time with this amazing Gardening Club Courtyard Retirement & Assisted Living Community and bringing a little hands-on fun with pots to decorate, soil to dig in, and marigolds to plant.

Watching everyone get creative, share laughs, and take pride in their plants was such a joy. These are the moments that remind me how powerful simple activities can be—connection, purpose, and a whole lot of smiles.

Thank you for having me and letting A Place at Home - Lafayette be part of your day. We loved every minute of it!
