Members of the American Legion, Rotary Club,, and Knights of Columbus along with Steve Babick, Mayor of Carrollton, visited the veterans of Storypoint for a special afternoon of fellowship.

The amazing race was amazing at StoryPoint Carrollton!

What a week! Our residents packed their passports, picked their team colors, tied on their bandanas, and set up on an adventure around the world – without ever leaving StoryPoint Carrollton.

Over five days, our teams visited Japan, France, Germany, Scotland, and Egypt, experiencing a little of each country’s culture through food, games, trivia, stories, and friendly competition.

And those bandanas? We discovered we had some serious fashionistas. Hirmma S. accessorized hers with her name tag and jewelry, while Judy G. turned hers into a stylish headband.

Sueko M. and Keiko A. grew up in Japan and proved that experience counts when they won the chopstick relay.

Kathy R. shared a wonderful personal memory — she purchased fabric while in France, and her daughter later, turned it into beautiful aprons for her and her three granddaughters.

Judy G shared her memories of living in Germany and the Berlin Wall. Joyce G.’s. husband even brought home a piece of the actual Berlin Wall, which is now proudly displayed in our first floor display case.

And, in Scotland, the competition got really serious on the golf course

In Egypt, everyone took a minute to write their name in Hieroglyphics.

Brenda R. surprised everyone, including herself, by hitting a hole in one, a home run and a strike during the week’s competitions. Who knew we had such an athlete among us?

By the end of the week our residence were a little exhausted – but they had so much fun that we decided the amazing race is not over. Going forward, we will spend one day each month, exploring a different country, immersing ourselves in its culture and sharing our own experiences and memories.

And, where are we headed in September?

Italyl After all, Bingo is thought to have roots in Italy going back to around 1530 and Bingo is a very big deal here at Storypoint.

What a wonderful week of laughter, learning, memories, competition, and friendship. The world may be a big place, but we discovered that it’s pretty easy to bring it right here to StoryPoint Carrollton.

The summer Wii Bowling Season kicked off with 12 enthusiastic teams, each ready to compete for strikes, spares, and bragging rights. Throughout the season, bowlers, enjoyed friendly competition, celebrated personal best, and cheered one another on. The league once again proved that it’s not just about winning. It’s about having fun, building, friendships, and sharing plenty of laughter along the way.

On July 4, residents gathered in the dining room to enjoy the Josie Ranch Choir’s presentation, The Music of America. The heartfelt performance celebrated our nation’s rich, musical heritage and reminded us of the songs that have united generations of Americans. It was a moving tribute that brought everyone together. The festivities continued that evening with Cindy Kahn’s patriotic extravaganza featuring music that inspired pride and appreciation for our country. It was a wonderful way to conclude a memorable day honoring 250 years of American history, freedom, and unity.

The Kona Ice Truck rolled into StoryPoint Josey Ranch, bringing a cool and refreshing treat for everyone to enjoy. It was a great way ro beat the summer heat.

StoryPoint Carrollton kicked off its celebration of America’s 250th birthday on Friday, July 3 with residents lining up for patriotic, temporary tattoos before boarding the bus to the Carrollton Senior Center. There, they enjoyed a delicious Chick-fil-A lunch while listening to the New Horizon Band perform a spirited concert of patriotic favorites.

As evening fell, residents were entertained by Walker & Adams while waiting for the spectacular fireworks over Josey Lake. With front row seats to the dazzling display it was the perfect ending to a day filled with patriotism, music, laughter, and community spirit.
