๐Ÿ› ๏ธ PT Tip Thursday: Plantar Fasciitis

Do you feel a sharp, stabbing pain in your heel when you take your first few steps in the morning?

Youโ€™re not alone! Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common foot issues we see in the clinic.

Here are a few things you can try at home:

โœ… Stretch your calves โ€“ Tight calf muscles can increase tension on the plantar fascia. Hold a calf stretch for 30 seconds and repeat 3 times per side.

โœ… Roll your foot โ€“ Use a frozen water bottle, lacrosse ball, or tennis ball to gently massage the bottom of your foot for 2-3 minutes.

โœ… Wear supportive shoes โ€“ Walking barefoot on hard surfaces can make symptoms worse, especially first thing in the morning.

โœ… Strengthen your feet โ€“ Try towel scrunches or picking up marbles with your toes to improve foot strength and support.

๐Ÿšจ If your heel pain has been lingering for weeks or is keeping you from walking, exercising, or enjoying daily activities, it may be time for a professional evaluation.

๐Ÿ“ At Wind City PT, we offer FREE consultations to help determine the root cause of your pain and create a plan to get you back on your feet.

Donโ€™t let heel pain slow you downโ€”take the first step toward feeling better today!

Tight shoulders and a stiff back? Your lats might be the culprit. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

It's PT Tip Thursday! This week, we're stretching one of the most overlooked muscles in your upper body: the latissimus dorsi, or "lats."

These big muscles run along your sides and connect your arms to your spine. When they get tight, you might notice limited shoulder movement, an achy upper back, or trouble reaching overhead.

The good news? A simple stretch can help.

Which body area should we tackle next Tip Thursday? Drop it in the comments. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ

Five years of showing up for our downtown community - and we're just getting started. ๐ŸŽ‰

This milestone belongs to every patient who trusted us with their recovery, every team member who brought their best every single day, and a downtown community that welcomed us from day one.

A special congratulations to our clinic director, Marissa, who has led this team with heart, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to exceptional care for all five of those years. Her leadership has shaped everything we do - and everything we've grown into.

To our patients: thank you for trusting us with something as personal as your health and your healing. That trust is not something we take lightly.

To our team: none of this happens without you!

And to the downtown community: thank you for being part of our story. โค๏ธ

Heading out on the trails soon? Reim has two simple moves you can do before you hit the trail to protect your knees and keep the hike pain-free.

Knee pain on the trail doesn't just show up out of nowhere - it usually means the muscles around your knee aren't fired up and ready to handle the demand.
Here's what Reim recommends:

โœ… Goblet squat โ€” Reim demonstrates a goblet squat to help prep for hiking and reduce knee pain by building strength and support around the knees.

โœ… Work on single-leg stability โ€” Hiking means uneven terrain and lots of one-leg loading. Training that balance ahead of time helps your knee stay in control when the trail gets tricky.

Small prep = fewer aches on the way down.

If knee pain is slowing you down or you want to get trail-ready the right way, reach out to us at Wind City PT. We'll help you move better and hike stronger.

Five years. Countless hours. Injuries overcome. Goals chased. Growth earned. ๐Ÿ’ช

Watching athletes grow over time is one of the greatest gifts, and seeing the trust built between coach and athlete means everything.

For the last 5 years, offseason training with Leif has been a constant in Lillian Hudsonโ€™s journey โ€” not just for performance, but for confidence, healing, accountability, and support. From getting her game-ready after injuries, to nutrition guidance, to showing up outside scheduled times when she needed help mostโ€ฆ heโ€™s been there every step of the way.

Recently while talking about her training plan for the next year she said:
โ€œWell I HAVE to be with Leif. When I took three months off, I got slow and less responsive.โ€

That says it all. ๐Ÿ‘Š

So proud of the athlete and young woman Lillian has become and grateful to be a small part of her story. The work behind the scenes matters โ€” and sheโ€™s proof of that. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Weโ€™re grateful for the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness that protect the freedoms we share every day. We also hold close the families, friends, and communities who carry that loss and memory forward.

Today, we remember. We reflect. And we give thanks.

Therapy Tip Thursday: Your posture matters more than you think.

If you sit most of the day, try this simple reset:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Sit tall with both feet flat on the floor
๐Ÿ‘‰ Relax your shoulders away from your ears
๐Ÿ‘‰ Gently squeeze your shoulder blades back and down
๐Ÿ‘‰ Hold for 5 seconds and repeat 5โ€“10 times

This quick exercise can help reduce stiffness, improve posture, and ease tension in your neck and upper back.

Small moves add up, especially during a long workday.
