Cass County residents, nasty scammers may be trying to take advantage of YOU! They are impersonating government officials. If something seems off, take a moment and double check!
SCAM ALERT: Scammers are impersonating Cass County officials.
Recent scams targeting Cass County residents have become increasingly convincing. Scammers may use the real names of local officials, along with fake warrants, government seals and logos, fraudulent invoices or false tax information to make their communications appear legitimate.
A familiar name, badge, seal or logo does not mean a message is real.
If you receive an unexpected or suspicious communication claiming to be from Cass County:
🛑 STOP — Don’t respond, click links, send money or provide personal information.
🔎 VERIFY — Contact the County office or official directly using contact information from the municipality's website — not the phone number, email address or link provided in the suspicious message.
✅ THEN ACT — Once you’ve confirmed it is fraudulent, delete and report the communication.
Please share this information, especially with friends or family members who may be more vulnerable to scams. Taking a few minutes to verify a request can prevent financial loss and identity theft.
