Every practice eventually upgrades the doctor's stool. The assistant's chair tends to wait a while longer.
Which is backwards, honestly. Assisting means holding a reach and a twist for most of a procedure — leaning across the patient, holding position, working from the side rather than behind. That's harder on a body than operating is, and it's the chair least likely to get replaced.
Body support arm to take the load off that reach. Foot ring, because assistant stools sit high and dangling legs push everything into your lower back. Saddle seat to keep your hips open underneath all of it.
Good times and great assistants deserve the best stools.
