Today was a stark reminder of just how dangerous the intersection of 4th and Oak can be.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the men and women of Central Point Police Department, Jackson County Fire District 3, and the paramedics who responded so quickly and professionally to a motorcycle accident in front of Four Oaks Day Spa today.
A motorcycle rider was struck by a vehicle making a turn through the intersection. Thankfully, the rider appeared to have only a few cuts, scrapes, and bumps and was able to communicate with those helping at the scene. Out of an abundance of caution, and with strong recommendations from both our team and the responding paramedics, the rider chose to be transported to the hospital for a professional evaluation. We are wishing them a speedy recovery and hoping for the very best.
I am also incredibly proud of the Four Oaks team. The moment the accident happened, everyone stepped into action without hesitation. Team members quickly called 911, checked on the rider, assisted where appropriate, and worked together to help keep the situation calm until emergency responders arrived. It was one of those moments where everyone simply knew what needed to be done, and they did it with compassion and professionalism.
This intersection continues to be a serious safety concern. We recently reached out to the City of Central Point to discuss protective barriers and other safety measures in front of the spa, as near misses happen regularly and there have been multiple accidents here in the last couple of months alone.
Today could have been much worse, and we are grateful it wasn't.
