Last week, Dr. Tori Gilbert was honored to serve as an invited presenter for the parent workshop hosted by Exceptional Possibilities WV in Charleston.

The interactive 3-hour workshop focused on helping parents become more confident communication partners for their children. Families learned practical AAC strategies, created their own core-word key rings and AAC modeling wands, and practiced incorporating language modeling into everyday routines through hands-on activities.

A heartfelt thank you to Exceptional Possibilities for the invitation and for your commitment to supporting families and promoting meaningful communication opportunities. It was a privilege to spend the day learning, creating, and collaborating with such an engaged group of parents.

One of the sweetest activities that took place during camp week was our field trip to Build A Bear. Each camper made their own bear and received a customized 3D printed AAC device for their bear that matched their own! Representation matters and we were so touched to see how much each camper enjoyed their personalized bear!💙💛🧸🗣️📲

As we reflect on an incredible 4th Annual Talking Time AAC Summer Camp, we have to give a huge THANK YOU to this amazing group of volunteers (some not pictured). This week is not possible without their time and dedication. The bonds they form with their campers throughout the week is so special, and we are always in awe of just how awesome our volunteers are each year. We cannot thank them enough! 🤗💙💛
