We had a great day at Mobile office Day in Chesapeake. The morning sessions focused on our ladies with classes by Carolyn Sue Young, Master Gardener and Susan Giles with WV Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program. The afternoon was focused on the kids as we partnered with Starting Points to celebrate the opening of their new community playground for all and joined Lydia Roberts of WVU Extension Office for a drum circle class. ACIL sponsored Kona Ice for everyone today.

KRT to hold Stakeholder Meeting on August 18!

As KRT plans for the future of public transportation in the Kanawha Valley, we are evaluating our long-term financial sustainability and exploring ways to continue meeting our community's transportation needs.

As part of this effort, we are inviting local leaders to participate in a stakeholder meeting to learn more about KRT's current financial outlook, discuss potential transit service scenarios, and share how public transportation supports the people, organizations, and communities you serve. Your insight will help us better understand the broader community impacts as we consider future service decisions.

Date: August 18, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM

We're looking for new Center Advisory Committee members!

The WVU CED's Center Advisory Committee (CAC) is soliciting interest for new members to be appointed to the Committee. At this time, the Committee is looking for West Virginia citizens who have developmental disabilities as well as family members of people with disabilities. The CAC strives to represent and reflect the needs and expectations of all West Virginians with disabilities.

The Center Advisory Committee is an organization that is established by the WVU CED under the federal Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act (P.L. 106-402). The Committee's work is to advise the WVU CED regarding civil rights, needs, and services for people with disabilities that help assure their full inclusion in their communities. More specifically, the Committee advises the Center on the development and progress on its five year plan and to inform the Center on the needs of people with disabilities and the services provided by the Center.

For more information or to be considered for mentorship opportunities, please email Dr. Lesley Cottrell at [email protected].

Please take a minute for this survey.

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office has officially launched their new, digital Home Safety Survey.

The goal is to make it easier for West Virginians to identify home fire hazards and take proactive steps toward safety. This tool is designed to be a quick, five-minute assessment that provides immediate safety guidance to residents while helping us better understand fire safety trends across the state.
