Edgewood Summit is a locally owned, not-for-profit senior living community offering Independent Living, Residential Care, Memory Care, and private Skilled Nursing in Charleston, WV. Edgewood Summit, Inc., is a West Virginia non-profit corporation organized in 1990 for the sole purpose of developing, owning and operating the Edgewood Summit senior living community in Charleston, West Virginia. wood Summit is governed by a volunteer board of directors, and day-to-day management services are provided by Greystone Communities. The Edgewood Summit community was constructed on a 37-acre tract of land adjacent to Cato Park, located within Charleston city limits. Phase I opened in the spring of 1995 offering 90 independent living apartments and 40 assisted living apartments. Phase II opened in January 2001 adding an additional 37 independent living apartments. Phase III offers two new levels of care, completing the Edgewood Summit continuum and making Edgewood Summit a true Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). Named after the benefactor of the Phase III project, the Arthur B. Hodges Center at Edgewood Summit offers memory support and skilled nursing and rehabilitation services. We were honored to host a Mother's Day Tea for the wonderful ladies of our community on Friday. Whether a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, or friend, all enjoyed a great afternoon.

A special thank you to Ernestine Kessel for showcasing her beautiful teacup collection and to Tanya Law and models for the fascinating hat show. We are grateful for the incredible women who make our community so special. Happy Mother's Day!

The annual Easter Egg Hunt was an egg-streme success this year! I counted, and I’m pretty sure all 3,000 eggs disappeared in about 35 seconds flat 🐣🐰

A big shoutout to our Hodges Lifestyles ladies for always putting together such a fun event and giving everyone a chance to come together, make memories, and get the whole family in on the fun!

Goodbyes are never easy, especially after 23 years. Housekeeping Supervisor Teresa Smith has been such a special part of Edgewood Summit and The Hodges Center from day one, and it’s hard to imagine this place without her. We’re so thankful for her dedication, kindness, and all the care she’s given over the years. Wishing her the sweetest retirement!

Teresa also gave us permission to share her speech as a glimpse into what makes a place like Edgewood Summit so special. For anyone who may be wondering what life in a community like this is really like, it’s so much more than a place to live or work. It becomes family. The memories made here, the friendships built, and the time shared between staff and residents is truly unmatched.
