Today was a special day at Thunder Orthopedics as Lacresha Jackson, MA, one of Thunder’s founding employees, accompanied Dr. Megan Swanson to officially receive the Charlottesville’s Finest Gold Award for Orthopedic Surgeon.

🎊 A proud Charlottesville High School graduate, Lacresha has worked with Dr. Swanson for more than a decade. Lacresha is truly one of the friendliest, kindest, and most genuine people you could ever meet—and her warmth and personal touch are a huge part of what makes Thunder Orthopedics so special.

🎊 This recognition is a wonderful honor, and it was even more meaningful to celebrate it together. Thank you to our community for voting for us!

Thank you to the patients who look us deep in the eyes and say: “thank you for training to be what you are and thank you for what you do. You made a real difference in my life.”

We hear you. And it feeds our souls. It is an incredible gift to watch someone (who had been dealing with horrible hip or knee pain and sometimes they or their family can only faintly remember who they were without it) get a new hip or knee and have the pain melt away and become who they are.

In orthopedics, we have “the privilege of witnessing a person find their way back to themselves. The resilience of the human spirit.”
And that is our why when people ask why we do what we do. We hope you enjoy this article.

"Rest is not the opposite of good work. It is the source of it. We need reminders that we are not only what we produce."

In a , a hospital chaplain considers how work is shaped not only by what give, but also by what they receive from patients, colleagues, and moments of restoration. The essay supports replenishment as necessary to sustain work grounded in presence, vulnerability, and care.
