🩸 Your period blood can tell you more than you think, especially when you’re TTC.
Have you ever looked at your period and wondered, “Is this normal?” 👀
Period blood can naturally vary in color throughout your cycle. Here’s a quick guide:
❤️ Bright red – Often seen during heavier flow when blood is leaving the uterus quickly.
🍷 Dark red – Common as your flow slows down and the blood takes longer to leave the uterus.
🤎 Brown – Usually older blood that has taken longer to leave the body.
🖤 Very dark – Can also be older blood, especially toward the beginning or end of your period.
🌸 Pink – Can happen when blood mixes with cervical fluid or when your flow is lighter.
🧡 Orange – Sometimes blood mixed with cervical fluid can appear orange, but if it comes with an unusual odor or other symptoms, it’s worth checking with your provider.
🩶 Gray – Gray discharge or bleeding isn’t something to ignore, especially if accompanied by pain, fever, or an unusual odor. Talk with your healthcare provider.
❤️ Red + clots – Small clots can be common during a heavier period, but large or frequent clots may be worth discussing with your provider.
Remember, color alone can’t diagnose a fertility or hormone issue. Your period is just one piece of the bigger picture.
