In honor of my favorite weekend of the year coming up, this week I'll be sharing some past work I've done with Umbrella Arts! 🥰

Every year, Umbrella Arts celebrates its dancers with commemorative photos in the spring. While I am far from a dancer myself, I grew up in that world because my three sisters all danced competitively! I love the art behind the movement, and the heart behind the choreography.

Taking dance photos not only lets me capture this beauty, but Angela and I get to mix alllll our creative juices together and that usually results in some beautiful art. This photo is simple but uses light to bring out emotion while her pose tells a story of its own. I love how these ones turn out! These always end up being some of my favorites from the weekend!

Currently working on editing images from Umbrella Arts's annual exhibition this past weekend and wait until you see what this lovely studio came up with as their theme this year!

In mythology, the Cosmic Weaver is the keeper of connection, spinning stars into stories and reminding us that nothing exists alone. Every choice, every dream, every soul is part of something larger, woven carefully into the fabric of the universe.

This dancer depicts the role of the Cosmic Weaver in her performance, but at the heart of the choreography is something even more beautiful: The very real act of acceptance, the feeling of belonging, and the love that Umbrella Arts pours into each and every one of its members.

I aim to shine that same light in my life. What thread are you choosing to follow?

We’re so happy to announce a special recognition and congratulations to our Umbrella Artist, Jo Komisaruk!

Jo is a talented visual artist who has been creating, exploring and learning under The Umbrella since 2022. Jo has recently been selected as one of a limited number of students to attend the Studio Art Program at West Virginia’s Governor’s School for the Arts this summer. This intensive residential program provides an inclusive community for all artists.

We are so grateful to Abby Cyphert, Outreach Coordinator for being the most magical Narrator and Queen of Creative Creatures at our at our Annual Showcase this year!

Our performance showcase was extra special because of her presence. She guided our audiences through a fantastic musical and dance journey!
