Far too many people think that breast reconstruction is "cosmetic". It is NOT cosmetic. Whether you had the breast cancer diagnosis in one breast or both, reconstruction is a covered service for BOTH breasts. This includes breast lift or reduction for symmetry, revisions due to deformity and definitive reconstruction after other cancer-related treatments have been completed. Being diagnosed with cancer is scary and overwhelming. All of the appointments, medicines, imaging studies, medical terms and the ticking clock leaves you with little room to breathe. If you've been diagnosed with breast cancer, I hope these few slides help you!

Breast reconstruction is not a one size fits all. Staging, tumor size, cancer treatments and patient goals are all considerations when discussing reconstructive options. It's also important to remember that you can change your mind. It is okay to postpone decisions on reconstruction until you have completed all cancer treatments. Have you been thinking about a breast augmentation? Here is a lovely 30 year old patient who was a AA and initially wanted to be a full B cup. After trying on sizers, she loved the look of implants in the ~300cc range. She had Mentor Boost Gel implants (370cc) high profile implants placed under the muscle.
