Our Coloring Your Plate event with our Registered Dietitian, Ghyta, was full of color, flavor, and fun! Residents got hands-on making their own DIY Mexican fruit cups, enjoyed refreshing infused waters, and tested their knowledge with some nutrition trivia (with prizes, of course 😉).

Healthy can be fun—and this group proved it! 💚

⛳️ Golf, Giggles, and a Little Friendly Competition! 😄

Our Independent Living residents had an absolute blast during our Golf Challenge, thanks to a fun kickoff from our CEO, Mike Cunningham!

From creative putting challenges to skill-testing shots, residents stepped up, showed off their swings, and embraced the spirit of the game. 🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️

There were prizes won, drinks enjoyed, and plenty of laughter shared along the way—because around here, it’s not just about the score, it’s about the memories we make together. 💚

Moments like these are what make our community so special—full of connection, joy, and just the right amount of competition!

🌱 Volunteer Opportunity – Help Us Grow Something Special 🌱

We are looking for a kind-hearted volunteer (or group!) to help us start a small vegetable garden for our residents.

Our residents would love to grow and care for their own vegetables—gardening brings purpose, joy, and meaningful daily activity. While they are excited and able to maintain the garden once it’s established, they need help getting it started.

We are specifically looking for assistance with:
• Tilling and preparing garden rows
• Planting vegetables
• Helping set up the space so it’s ready for residents to maintain

This is a wonderful opportunity to make a lasting impact. You’ll be helping create something our residents can nurture, enjoy, and take pride in every single day.

If you, your family, a local group, or a business would like to volunteer, we would truly appreciate your support. 💚

Please comment below or send a message if you’d like to help!

✨We are so proud to celebrate one of our own!✨

Congratulations to Sarah Snead, who was honored with the Spirit of Wisdom Award at Hanover County’s Spirit of Volunteerism Celebration on April 9.

This award recognizes individuals age 60+ whose commitment to volunteer service is rooted in years of experience, compassion and dedication — and Sarah exemplifies this in every way.

As Board Chair of The Span Center, the Lucy Corr Foundation and the Perkinson Center for the Arts & Perkinson’s Foundation, Sarah has dedicated decades to strengthening our community and supporting older adults, caregivers and individuals with disabilities.

In 2025 alone, Sarah contributed 210 volunteer hours to The Span Center — helping provide:
• 14,235 home-delivered meals
• 6,586 hours of care through Adult Day Support and In-Home Services
• 1,268 trips to senior centers across Hanover County

Her leadership fosters collaboration, thoughtful decision-making and meaningful impact, ensuring programs remain responsive and sustainable for those who need them most.

💙 Thank you, Sarah, for your incredible dedication, compassion and service. You continue to inspire all of us, and we are so grateful to have you as part of the Lucy Corr family!
