Roger Bolch

Age 80, late of Lansing and formerly of Hegewisch, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine Bolch (nee Oseguera), with whom he shared a beautiful and cherished life filled with love, companionship and countless treasured memories. He was a loving and dedicated father to Christopher (Grace) Bolch and Laura (Bryan) Benedict, who will carry forward his legacy of compassion, integrity and deep devotion to those he loved. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Christopher Bolch Jr, whose life brought him great joy. He was also a dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Helen Bolch, and his brother, Jerry Bolch. Roger was a retired business owner.

His memory will be forever held dear in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Donald R. Emerson, Jr.

Donald R. Emerson, Jr., born on April 10, 1962, passed away on June 2, 2026, with his family by his side.

Don was a beloved husband to Sherry Emerson (nee Kazmierczak) and the proud father of Aimee, Donald and Ryan (Tanya).

He was the loving son of Donald Emerson, Sr. and the late Patricia Emerson and brother to Denise (John) Suski, preceded in death by his baby brother Daniel.

He was a dear uncle to Johnny (Alex) Suski, Jeremy (Chloe) Suski, Christopher Kazmierczak, Jenna Cook, Jamie (Thad) Thompson, Kati Malacina and many other nieces and nephews. He was also a brother-in-law to Darlene Colgan, Evelyn Geiling and the late Matthew Kazmierczak and Robert Kazmierczak.

Don was a hard-working man who cared deeply about his family, his friends and the things he enjoyed most in life.

Don began his professional career at Republic Steel before becoming a member of IUEC Elevator Constructors Local 2, retiring after 25 years of service. He took pride in his work and earned the respect of those who worked along side him and developed many close friendships along the way.

Outside of work, Don stayed busy doing the things he loved. He earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a reflection of his strength, determination and willingness to take on a challenge. As many know, he was very competitive in every sport he played and very much enjoyed bowling and golfing with family and many good friends.

Some of Dons happiest memories were spent watching his sons play baseball and softball. He took great pride in coaching them at Hegewisch Little League and Babe Ruth and enjoyed spending time sharing his love and knowledge of baseball. After his coaching years were over, Don enjoyed relaxing and proudly watching his sons, nephews and all their friends play ball at the fields.

Don enjoyed just relaxing in the backyard grilling and listening to his favorite music with his family, close friends and beloved fur babies Coco and Benji.

Don was also a lifelong fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Cubs. He loved watching the games at home with a basement full of friends and family..

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his strong work ethic, his willingness to help others, and the pride and commitment he took in providing for his family. Those who knew him will miss his presence and the many memories they shared with him.

John Albert Bonczek

John Albert Bonczek, age 86, late of Hegewisch passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Adrienne Bonczek (nee Pugh), with whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories. He was a loving father to John Bonczek, Jr., Kelly (Jeannie) Bonczek, and Robin (Paul) Steller, all of whom carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. He was a caring grandfather to Gage, John Peter (Lexi), John Michael, Amber, Kelly Andrew, and Ayden, who brought immense joy to his later years.

He is also survived by his kind siblings, Charlotte Drozdowski and Robert Bonczek, who remember him fondly. John was a dear uncle to a nephew and many nieces, and a cousin to many, all of whom valued his warmth and generosity.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Peter and Stella Bonczek, whose memory he honored throughout his life.

John proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, a testament to his unwavering dedication and love for his nation. Throughout his life, he demonstrated a profound respect for service and commitment, values he instilled deeply within his family and community.

John was an avid lover of the outdoors and found joy in wood carving, a craft that allowed him to express his creativity and patience. His enthusiasm extended to hunting and fishing, pursuits that connected him to nature and kindled his adventurous spirit. John also enjoyed drawing and painting, activities through which he nurtured his artistic side. A passionate gardener, he took particular delight in tending to flowers, filling his garden with vibrant life and color. His love for animals, especially his dogs, was well known and reflected his gentle and caring nature.

John Albert Bonczek’s life was marked by devotion - to his country, his family, and his passions. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit endures in the hearts of those he loved and inspired.

Vasiliki "Bessie" A. Hasapis (nee Christodoulou)

Age 89, late of Munster and formerly of East Chicago, IN, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Loving mother of Demetreos “Jim” (Maria) Hasapis and the late Sofianos "Sam" Hasapis. Proud grandmother of Athanasios “Nathan” Hasapis, Samantha Hastis and Seth Hasapis. Caring sister of Maria (late Pete) Lecas, Souzana (late Alex) Alexopoulos, Philipas (Antonia) Christodoulou and the late Niko (Katerina) Christodoulou. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. Vasiliki immigrated from Greece with little more than a dream and along with her husband built a beautiful life for their family. She was also a devoted member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Hegewisch.

Eva Orozco de Viveros

Eva Orozco de Viveros, aged 90 and a longtime resident of Hegewisch, peacefully passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026. She is remembered with deep respect and affection by all who knew her as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Born on April 24, 1936, Eva’s life was marked by tireless dedication and hard work. Throughout her years, she remained a steadfast and loving presence, shaping the lives of her family with an old-fashioned and strict love that equipped them with the essential tools needed to navigate the challenges of life. Her strength and resolve were a testament to her character, even as she bravely faced the difficult trials brought on by dementia and Alzheimer’s in her later years.

Eva was the beloved mother of David (Lorena) Viveros, Nicolas (Dahlia) Viveros, Jose Viveros, Miguel (Hernestina Porras) Viveros, Laura Viveros, Lourdes Viveros, and Ricardo (Sandy) Viveros. She was a caring and loving grandmother to 22 grandchildren and was further blessed with 23 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her legacy of love and perseverance.

She was the cherished wife of the late Luis Viveros, and she now rests in the loving arms of God, reunited with her husband, parents, and siblings who preceded her in death.

Eva Orozco de Viveros leaves behind a rich legacy of love, resilience, and faith that will continue to inspire her family and all who had the privilege to know her. Her life will be honored and remembered with the utmost gratitude and respect.

Majdolin S. Shaban

With heavy hearts and deep love, we remember and celebrate the life of the servant of God, Majdolin Samir Shaban of Chicago, IL. Majdolin, age 75, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026 embraced by her loving family.

Born on March 5, 1951 in Amman, Jordan, Majdolin was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Majdolin was preceded in death by her parents, Jamil and Nawara Haddad; her husband, Samir Shaban; and her siblings: Subhi (Mary) Haddad, Josephine (Michael) Haddad, Fuad (Alice) Haddad, Samir (Sawsan) Haddad, Nabeel (Fawzieh) Haddad and Raja Haddad. She is survived by her sister, Caroline Haddad; her children, Sufian, Zaidon, and Rania; and her beloved granddaughters, Mariah and Maureen Anbar.

Majdolin was truly one of a kind—a vibrant soul whose presence could light up any room. A natural social butterfly, she had a rare and beautiful gift: the ability to connect with anyone, anywhere. Whether with family, friends, or complete strangers, she could spark a conversation that lasted hours, leaving everyone feeling seen, heard, and valued.

Her kindness knew no limits. She was endlessly loving, generous beyond measure, and always ready to give of herself without hesitation. Majdolin had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor that brought laughter to those around her, even in the simplest of moments. Her wisdom, shared so effortlessly, touched lives in ways that will never be forgotten. She was the life of every gathering—the one who brought people together, lifted spirits, and made every occasion feel special. Being around her meant warmth, joy, and a sense of belonging.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we carry forward her legacy of kindness, laughter, and connection. Her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched and in the memories we will cherish forever. Majdolin will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated.

Eileen Nottoli (nee Lynch), born on August 12, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026. She was a cherished and devoted woman whose life touched the hearts of many with her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family.

Eileen was the beloved wife of the late Ralph M. Nottoli, whose memory she held dear throughout her life. Together, they built a legacy of warmth and devotion that continues through their children and descendants.

She was a loving mother to Deborah Nottoli, Dennis Nottoli— who is married to Denise and a retired Florida Deputy Sheriff-and Mark Nottoli, a retired member of the Chicago Police Department. Eileen took great pride and joy in the achievements and lives of her children.

Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren: James Emerson, Nicholas Emerson, Shannon Nottoli, Vincent Nottoli, Derek Nottoli, Angelo Nottoli, and Anthony Nottoli. Each carried a piece of her compassion and guidance in their lives. Eileen's joy grew even more as she became a proud great-grandmother to Lyric Powell, whose presence brought her endless delight.

Eileen’s familial bonds extended beyond her immediate family, as she was a loving sister and a cherished aunt. Her warmth and kindness made her a beloved sister-in-law and friend to many, reflecting a life enriched by close relationships and heartfelt connections.
