Louise M. Brown (nee Kurek)

Age 79, late of Hegewisch, passed away Friday, October 9, 2026. Loving mother of Genevieve (Lawrence) Carey and Rebecca (late Michael) Barajas. Proud grandmother of Michael Jr., Aster and Madelyn Barajas. Preceded in death by parents: Emil and Martha Kurek.

Louise lived a life marked by dedication, intelligence, and creativity. She served as a nurse for 51 years, giving her time, skill, and compassion to the care of others through a remarkable lifelong career. Her work reflected both her strength and her deep commitment to helping people.

Outside of her profession, Louise found joy in crafting and sewing. She loved to create with her hands, and her creativity was a defining part of who she was. Whether through crafting or sewing, she expressed a thoughtful and artistic spirit that brought beauty into everyday life. She will also be remembered as a very intelligent woman whose gifts touched both her work and the lives of those around her. Louise also baked and decorated cakes and made flower arrangements, sharing beauty and care through the work of her hands. Among her enjoyments, she was a die-hard Bears fan, bringing enthusiasm and loyalty to the team she followed so faithfully. She was devoted to her pets as well, and that love was an important part of her life.

Louise’s memory is also held in the tender image of reunion with the pets who meant so much to her. She was joined by her cat Oreo and her dogs Penny and Lola, who passed before her and greeted her on the Rainbow Bridge.

Louise’s life leaves behind the memory of a woman who combined service, creativity, and wisdom in a meaningful way. She will be remembered with love and appreciation by all who knew her.

Antonio Edo Santucci

Antonio Edo Santucci passed away on October 8, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on September 21, 1937, Antonio lived a long life centered on devotion to his family. He will be remembered as a beloved husband, loving father, caring grandfather, proud great-grandfather, and kind brother whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Antonio shared his life with his beloved wife, Darlene Santucci. Together, they built a family that stood as a lasting part of his life and legacy. He was a loving father to Anthony (Laura Wingstedt) Santucci, Mark (Constance) Santucci, Deneen (Palmer) Workman, and Venice (Nicholas) Milkovich. His love for his children and their families remained an enduring source of pride and joy.

He was also a caring grandfather to Mallory Santucci, Anthony (Estefania) Santucci, Nicholas (Jazmin) Santucci, Nicholas (Sarah) Milkovich, Vince Santucci, Lucas Milkovich, and Serena Workman. Antonio took great pride in the generations that followed him and was a proud great-grandfather to Alexander Santucci, Isabella Santucci, Sophia Santucci, Arianna Santucci, Elena Santucci, and Vinny Santucci. His family was the heart of his life, and his memory will continue through each of them.

Antonio is also survived by his brother Alfredo (Terry), with whom he shared a lifelong family bond. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mercurio and Umbertina Santucci and siblings: Peter, Petronilla, Alberino, and Vinicio.

Antonio Edo Santucci leaves behind a treasured family and a legacy of love that will be carried forward by those closest to him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing and remain a blessing in the days ahead.

Gizella Lengyel

Gizella Lengyel passed away suddenly on September 20, 2026 at the age of 74. She was originally from Hungary, Europe and lived most of her life in Chicago and Hegewisch, Illinois. She is lovingly survived by her brother Tibor and sister Mary in Europe. She was married to Sandor Lengyel for 33 years before he passed away. She is also lovingly survived by her children, John, Andrea (Howard) Pinta, stepsons Shawn, Joe (Candace) Lengyel and step grandchildren, Brandon and Trinity. She is also survived by her wonderful nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Gizella had a good childhood growing up in Hungary, Europe. Her parents were hard working farmers and devoted in their faith growing up, which wasn't easy in a Communist era. As a young Adult, she moved to the big city of Budapest, where she lived for several years with her longtime best friend Elizabeth and worked for two different companies. She met the love of her life, Sandor and they got married, then moved to United States, Illinois, Chicago. They spent 33 years together before he passed away.

In those 33 years, Gizella was a wonderful wife and Mother to her kids. She never forgot her childhood upbringing memories and would reflect on them often. She loved the outdoors as a result. She enjoyed taking care of nature and gardening. She loved growing vegetables in her garden and would say that is the best stuff ever. She loved her family and the beautiful life she had with them. She felt blessed to be an American Citizen and a Hungarian Citizen and also always continued on with her childhood faith throughout her life because it was a big part of who she was. She will be deeply missed and may God Bless her for all she contributed to all our lives.

Age 87, late of Hegewisch, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2026. Loving mother of Jamil (Suzanne) Haddad, Elias Haddad, Husam (Nesreen) Haddad, Maha Haddad, Jacklin (Ibrahim) Batarseh, Hind (Osama) Haddad, Maysoun (Samer) Jreisat, and Nihad (Aiman) Batarseh. Caring grandmother of 28. Proud great-grandmother of 23. Kind sister of George, Samir, Khalil, and Nadia. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Fuad J. Haddad; son, Raymone F. Haddad; grandson, Yousef I. Batarseh; parents, Awad and Selma Elias; and siblings, Elias, Maurice, Sameera, Elaine, and Ida.

Bernard "Yogi" D. Ralich

Bernard "Yogi" D. Ralich passed away on September 5, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on July 11, 1951, Bernard lived a life marked by devotion to his family and honorable service to his country.

Bernard proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His military service reflected courage, duty, and commitment, and it remained an important part of the life he lived and the example he set for those around him.

At the heart of Bernard’s life was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Ralich, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Together, Bernard and Linda built a family that was a lasting source of pride and joy. He is also survived by their daughter, Michelle Demkowicz, and their son, Daniel Ralich. His love extended warmly to the next generation through his grandchildren, Gavin Demkowicz, Jackson Ralich, and Aubrey Demkowicz, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Bernard was a dear uncle of many nieces and nephews, and he will be remembered with affection across his extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Mike Ralich, his mother, Theresa Ralich, and his brother, Michael (Vicky) Ralich.

Bernard "Yogi" D. Ralich will be remembered with love, gratitude, and respect by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, in the service he gave to his country, and in the many lives touched by his steady presence.

Age 89, late of Chicago (Hegewisch), IL, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

A lifelong Chicago resident, Ray proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, and retired from US Steel. He loved riding his bike and watching the Bears.

Preceded in death by parents: Stanley and Mary (Kaleta) Trzupek; sister Helen (late Edward) O'Dea; brothers: Walter Stanley (late Helen) Trzupek; Stanley James (late Ann) Trzupek, and Alex Stanley Trzupek, plus many nieces and nephews, including more Stanleys.

Rose Navarro

Rose Navarro, a beloved soul who graced this world with her presence, has bid us farewell on Sunday, July 19, 2026. Born on May 9, 1938, in the vibrant city of Guadalajara, Mexico, Rose was a beacon of light to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Rose leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished by her surviving family and friends. She was the loving mother of Sandra (Scott) Cassidy, Richard Steven (Kathleen) Navarro, and Sharon Navarro. Her presence will be deeply missed by her beloved grandchildren, Maya Navarro and Edward Navarro.

Rose will also be dearly missed by her siblings: Joanie Heihn, Alfredo DeAvila, Ernest Balla, Margaret Priscilla Balla, and Lisa Ann Purcell. Her spirit lives on through the fond memories shared with her numerous nieces and nephews. Rose is now reunited with her parents: Francisco Rodriguez Caracalla and Lucy Balla in eternal peace.

In her remarkable career spanning over 40 years at the University of Chicago D’Angelo Law Library, Rose's dedication and passion shone brightly. Her commitment to excellence was evident as she worked alongside a former president and a current Supreme Court Justice.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Rose was a true artist at heart. From creating unique T-shirts and costumes to skillfully making postage stamp cans, she infused creativity into everything she touched. Her talent extended to the kitchen, where she was renowned for her beautifully decorated cookies and legendary butter cookies that brought joy to many. Rose also found joy in nurturing nature's creations. Her green thumb mirrored the nurturing spirit she shared with all those around her.

Those who had the pleasure of crossing paths with Rose would attest to her infectious sense of humor that never failed to lighten the mood and bring smiles to all around her. Her laughter will echo in our hearts forever.

In remembering Rose Navarro, let us take solace in the beautiful memories she has gifted us and carry forward the light she brought into our lives.

Yesterday was a heavy day for the whole Mixtecas world.

First and foremost, I want to send my deepest condolences to Coyote's family and to our entire Mixteca Nation. This loss hit hard.

This brother right here was a real one. A solid carnal. Even though the time we had around each other was short lived and never enough time with each other, it was more than enough for me to see the kind of man and brother you were. Some people don't need years to leave a mark - they do it with their presence, their loyalty, their heart, and the way they carry themselves. That was you.

And seeing how your absence is shaking the whole Mixteca Nation right now says everything that needs to be said. That kind of pain don't come from just anybody — it comes from losing someone who was truly loved, truly respected, and truly part of the bloodline of this nation.

Anybody who had the blessing to cross paths with you knows exactly what I mean. You brought a certain energy with you... a feeling, a motion, a presence that people felt. The kind of brother people looked forward to seeing. The kind of carnal that made his mark without ever having to force it. You were one of them ones, and that's why this one hurts.

Ride easy now, carnal.

May you ride high in the heavens with our fallen Mixteca brothers, with the Mixtec gods opening our glistening roads of gold for you and watching over you. Down here, your absence is being felt heavy... but your name, your spirit, and your memory will keep riding with us everywhere we go.

Kevin J. McQuaid

Kevin J. McQuaid, born on September 25, 1953, passed away on June 22, 2026. Kevin’s life was marked by steadfast dedication, quiet generosity, and a deep devotion to family, God and friends.

A proud and honorable veteran, Kevin served his country in the U.S. Navy, embodying the values of duty and service that defined much of his life. His love for his country was matched by his enduring faith; Kevin was a devoted follower of God, faithfully carrying his beliefs into every aspect of his daily life.

Kevin’s interests were many, and his zest for life touched everyone around him. He was an avid boxing fan, often sharing stories or insights about legendary fighters with friends and loved ones. Old movies captivated him—he delighted in movie trivia and relished the nostalgia of classic cinema, sparking many lively conversations and fond memories. His gift for remembering the past was matched only by his quick wit—he was a natural practical joker, and his sense of humor endeared him to many. Kevin was also an avid reader whose love of books enriched his days and conversations.

A lover of animals, Kevin’s compassion extended to those who could not speak for themselves. He will be deeply missed by his beloved cats, Marge, Cookie, and his feral friends, especially the Little Grey Cat, whose companionship brought him great comfort and joy.

Kevin was a loyal brother to his surviving sister, Linda McQuaid, and was preceded in death by his father, Hugh R. McQuaid, and his mother, Loretta D. McQuaid. Throughout his life, Kevin was known as a true friend to MANY. His kindness, sense of humor, and warm presence won the admiration and affection of all who had the privilege to know him.

Those who mourn his loss can take solace in the legacy Kevin leaves behind—a legacy of respect, friendship, and unwavering devotion. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
