Sometimes, healing looks like a paintbrush. 🎨

On May 28, our community came together for Paint Your Peace: A Mental Health Paint & Sip Experience. an afternoon filled with creativity, movement, and meaningful connection.

From brushstrokes on canvas to moments of reflection during our wellness session, every part of the experience reminded us that mental wellness deserves space, attention, and care.

We’re especially grateful to: ✨ Ivana Porter for leading an engaging and insightful wellness presentation
✨ Veronica Pereyra (West Side United) for ensuring accessibility through Spanish translation
✨ The SCI staff and volunteers whose contributions helped make this event such a meaningful success
✨ Every participant who showed up, created, moved, and connected

Whether it was painting, stretching, or simply being present, this day was about pausing together and prioritizing well-being, something our communities deserve every day.

💛 Because wellness isn’t a luxury, it’s essential.

“I gave my chance a chance.”

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re sharing a story that reminds us recovery is possible, and hope can change everything.

Dorothy Smith, a Recovery Support Specialist at our Center for Substance Recovery, turned her own journey through addiction, trauma, and healing into a purpose: helping others feel seen, understood, and supported.

Her message is simple but powerful: People do recover.

Read her story here: https://health.sinai.org/4uLDTj1

If you or someone you love is struggling, you’re not alone. We’re here. Without judgment, with compassion, and with hope.
