Microplastics are everywhere including our water.
Despite growing research and the EPA previously identifying microplastics as a priority contaminant for future regulation, they were omitted from the latest Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR) proposed on July 1.
That means public water systems won’t be required to monitor for microplastics over the next five years, and likely will not until at least 2031.
The science around microplastics is still evolving, but one thing is clear: they’re being detected in our environment and our bodies.
The first step to protecting yourself is choosing a water filtration system, like the Rorra Countertop System, that can effectively reduce microplastics in tap water.
