This February, we celebrate Black History Month. A time to recognize, reflect and honor the achievements, resilience and contributions of Black Americans throughout history and in health care today. Black healthcare pioneers have shaped the way we care for patients every.
Dr. Daniel Hale Williams performed one of the first successful open-heart surgeries. Mary Eliza Mahoney was the first professionally trained Black nurse in the United States. Doctor Charles Drew developed modern blood banking and blood transfusion practices.
Their legacy lives on through the compassionate care provided by our nurses, physicians therapist technicians and support teams.
At Kindred Chicago North, we are committed to respect, equity, inclusion, and compassionate care for every patient and family.
