Liver Functions and Why They Matter
The liver performs essential roles: detoxification, metabolism of carbs/fats/proteins, storage of glycogen and vitamins, bile production for digestion, and immune defense. When liver function declines, many systems suffer — energy regulation, clotting, nutrient balance, and resistance to infection.
Protective steps include a balanced diet, maintaining a healthy weight, limiting alcohol, getting vaccinated (hepatitis), and routine medical screening. Small, consistent habits protect long-term health.
