Buffalo Lymphatic Management is an Occupational Therapy private practice founded in 2021 by Philip Wojtas and Alexis Mickelsen.

Answer from yesterday! Yes, this IS lymphedema. While minor, the legs are smaller in circumference, but the biggest change is the improved skin condition. Lighter skin, fibrosis improved, less skin flaking, and decreased redness. The recipe works!

Lymphedema can look different person to person. While we often expect to see patients with large legs, that is not always the case. This patient has advanced stage vascular disease AND lymphedema. These have resulted in progressive skin changes over time causing heavy fibrosis, shiny skin, and scarring. For patients like these, close involvement with vascular care is of the utmost importance. Stay tuned to see the results on this case. You’ll be surprised!

Arts and crafts you say? Kind of! Here is a great product by medi USA called a Reduction Kit. This piece in particular treats knee swelling. We love this product as it’s easy to use, easy to modify, and patients are able to independently manage the garment.

Proof we are excellent partners in wound care! This patient participates in both wound care with one of our community partners and lymphedema therapy with us. Which has been the perfect cocktail to getting his legs back to a functional baseline. Very excited for this patient and all the progress they’ve seen!
