Proof we are excellent partners in wound care! This patient participates in both wound care with one of our community partners and lymphedema therapy with us. Which has been the perfect cocktail to getting his legs back to a functional baseline. Very excited for this patient and all the progress they’ve seen!

Fact or Fiction Fridays are here, and today’s topic is water. As long as you do not have a condition in which your medical providers are restricting your fluid, drinking more water actually HELPS your lymphedema. Stay healthy and hydrated!💧

Friday talks: Compression types! Off the shelf vs custom. Circular knit compression is great for preventative type swelling and Stage I lymphedema. Custom compression is what we recommend to patients with diagnosed lymphedema and Lipedema. Flat knit custom compression works like a retaining wall, preventing water from returning to the tissue space, while circular knit tends to squeeze fluid out of the tissue space. If you have diagnosed swelling issues, you need custom flat knit.

Proof that early intervention is KEY! I saw this patient two weeks after her mastectomy surgery. She still had sutures and some minor drainage. We performed MLD to the adjacent regional sites and once the scar was formed, scar management including cold laser therapy! This patient also had lymph nodes removed, and guess what? She doesn’t have to wear a sleeve all the time. We manage her as needed, which is amazing! The earlier we can treat, the better the outcome. Super proud of this one! 🩷
