We are so proud of the team at Turley Family Health Center. For 20 years, they have been helping students who live in the North Greenwood Community start the school year healthy and prepared by providing physicals, health screenings and school supplies.

This year the team provided 43 back-to-school physicals and distributed 500 backpacks filled with supplies to students in grades K-12 at the community sponsored back-to-school event.

Before meeting with a physician, students also received hearing and vision screenings, blood pressure checks, and height and weight measurements. helping families take care of important health needs before the first day of school.

A special shout out to BayCare Faith Community Nurses who have been helping with the event for years.

The effort reflects the center’s long-standing commitment to serving the community and improving health outcomes for local families.

Last week we hosted 18 high school students for our first HealthCare Pathways Programs. The three-day camp gave students opportunities to explore clinical spaces, meet health care professionals and learn about the numerous career paths available in a hospital.

Students toured the emergency room, the operating room, and the obstetrics unit. They explored the anatomy of the heart using a pig’s heart. They practiced choking prevention and CPR on adult and infant manikins. They had presentations from rehabilitation, respiratory care and career pathways. The Clearwater Fire & Rescue Department Clearwater Fire Department even stopped by for a fire truck demonstration.

Throughout their experience, students stayed engaged, asked thoughtful questions and eagerly participated in each activity, showing just how much the experience resonated with them.

Special thanks to the Morton Plant Mease Foundation for covering the cost of the program, including T-shirts, bags, snacks and lunches.

👏 Please join us in congratulating Patrick, a maintenance technician III in our facilities department, on being named a 2026 WOW! Team Member of the Month.

This special honor celebrates team members who go above and beyond every day to support their colleagues and care for our patients and customers.

Patrick was nominated by a nurse manager who saw firsthand how much of a difference he made when her unit temporarily moved to a new location while their area received a refresh. Patrick worked overtime to make sure every detail was handled so the team and their patients had what they needed.

And when it was time to move back, Patrick was there again, making sure the refreshed space was ready, welcoming and set up to support the team’s work.

“Patrick consistently demonstrates exceptional professionalism, reliability and pride in his work,” the nurse manager shared. “Whether he’s troubleshooting an urgent facilities issue, completing preventive maintenance or stepping in to support his teammates, Patrick brings a positive attitude and a strong commitment to keeping our environment safe, functioning and welcoming.”

Thank you, Patrick, for the pride, care and dedication you bring to our team. Congratulations! 🎉

🏈 Before the first whistle blows, make sure your student athlete is ready for the season ahead. 🏀⚽

Florida’s new Second Chance Act requires an EKG screening for all first-time high school athletes before they can compete. We're helping families check that box with screening appointments available at select BayCare Medical Group cardiology locations across West Central Florida.

What sets BayCare apart? Every screening is reviewed by our pediatric cardiology experts, giving families access to specialists who can answer questions, explain results and guide next steps if additional evaluation is recommended.

Give your athlete a strong start to the season — and extra peace of mind for the whole family.

Congratulations to Lou Ann on her retirement after more than 23 years of dedicated service to our hospital and community!

Lou Ann’s connection to our hospital began long before her career here. She was born here in the 1930s, and after joining the hospital team, she helped shape meaningful programs that supported patients, families and our community.

Beginning in 1988, Lou Ann served as a marketing consultant and played an instrumental role in the Sarah Walker Women’s Center after it opened in 1991. Her thoughtful creativity helped develop programs that became staples for patients, families, physicians, nurses and the broader community.

As Special Events Coordinator for the Women’s Resource Center, she continued making a lasting impact through programs and events including the Pelican Club, Baby Alumni, New Year New You, Menopause Boot Camp, Breastfeeding Week and Nurses Week celebrations.

Thank you, Lou Ann, for your creativity, dedication and heart. You have helped us serve our patients and community in so many meaningful ways. Please join us in wishing Lou Ann a wonderful and well-earned retirement! 💙

What a fun Friday afternoon! 🍧 Recently, our team at the Madonna Ptak Center for Alzheimer’s Research and Memory Disorders Clinic partnered with Arden Courts of Palm Harbor and Largo to host our monthly caregiver support group outing at Jeremiah's Italian Ice in Clearwater.

The Italian ice shop is the newest local business to complete Dementia-Friendly Dining training, a program introduced in our area three years ago by clinic coordinator Celisa. Through the program, restaurant teams learn simple ways to help make dining out less stressful and more enjoyable for people with dementia and their caregivers.

That kind of support is at the heart of what our Memory Disorders Clinic team does every day. They patients and caregivers navigate the changes that come with memory loss while connecting them with meaningful resources, including biweekly support groups and monthly outings that offer time together in welcoming, dementia-friendly spaces.
