From Clearwater Free Clinic volunteer to future physician.

When Nicholas “Nick” Douridas first came to Clearwater Free Clinic in 2023, he was looking for an opportunity to serve and gain experience in healthcare.

He found much more.

Nick has volunteered throughout the Clinic—from the front desk and medication room to working alongside physicians as a scribe. Along the way, it was getting to know our patients and their stories that made the biggest impression.

Now, our 2025 Volunteer of the Year is beginning his next chapter as a medical student at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine.

Nick's advice to others considering volunteering?
“If you want to be reminded why you chose medicine—and to push yourself to do more for your patients—this is the place to be.”

We're incredibly grateful for Nick's service and can't wait to see where his journey takes him next.
