✨ LASER SEASON IS COMING… and so is the SHED. ✨
I’ve been getting a LOT of questions lately about what the healing process after a HALO® laser treatment actually looks like — especially the infamous shedding phase — so I figured I’d use my own face as the demonstration. 😂
These photos/video are me 2 days post-HALO, and yes… those little flakes all over my black scrubs are courtesy of my face. 💀
After HALO, your skin develops tiny areas of treated tissue (often called MENDs) that can make the skin feel rough, dry, or almost sandpaper-like. Over the next several days, that treated tissue gradually works its way to the surface and naturally sheds away, revealing the fresh skin underneath. ✨
And when I say naturally… I mean DO. NOT. PICK. 🙅🏼♀️
No scrubbing. No exfoliating. No trying to “help” those little flakes along. Your skin knows what it’s doing — let it do its thing.
Pro tip from someone currently shedding her face at work:
Maybe reconsider the black scrubs during peak shedding. 😂 Nothing says “physician-owned laser practice” quite like looking like you ate a powdered donut with your entire body. 🤦🏼♀️
And despite being only Day 2, notice that I can still look pretty darn normal (just some residual swelling plus shedding)! I’m wearing Alastin HydraTint in the video/photos — one of my absolute favorites during the post-laser period because it gives me tinted mineral SPF coverage while my skin heals. ☀️
HALO downtime isn’t about hiding in your house for a week. For most people, it’s more like redness → bronzing/rough texture → shedding → HELLO, GLOW. ✨
And with fall right around the corner, laser season is officially approaching. 🍂 If you’ve been thinking about HALO, BBL® HERO™, or a customized combination treatment, now is the perfect time to start planning.
