Members of GVMH faculty promoted stroke awareness, prevention and recovery last week. Strokes are the leading cause of long-term disability and death in the U.S. – but up to 80% are preventable. Recognizing the signs early and acting FAST can save a life and reduce long-term disability.

Know the signs by using the acronym B.E.F.A.S.T.:

B – Balance: sudden loss of balance

E – Eyes: sudden vision changes

F – Face: facial drooping

A – Arms: arm weakness

S – Speech: slurred or hard to understand

T – Time: call 911 immediately

Join us for an evening of remembrance, reflection and connection.

The SHARE Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group will host its annual memorial garden planting on Wednesday, June 10 at 6 p.m. at Piccadilly Park on the square.

This event, “Pizza and Planting,” is open to anyone in the community who would like to plant a flower in memory of a pregnancy loss or an infant who has passed. Flowers and pizza will be provided as we come together to support one another and honor these lives.

We are proud to recognize this year’s GVMH scholarship recipients. Each student has demonstrated a passion for helping others and a commitment to making a difference through healthcare. Each recipient received a $500 scholarship, with the opportunity to renew for up to three additional years during their college journey. At GVMH, we believe in supporting those who are called to care for others. It is an honor to invest in the future of these students and the communities they will go on to serve.

Operations at our SFCC building have returned to normal.

After a thorough review, the building has been cleared and safely reoccupied. The cause was determined to be a clogged exhaust that triggered a carbon monoxide alarm. No gas leak was detected.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we worked through this situation.

We are currently experiencing a temporary disruption at our SFCC building while local crews address a gas-related issue. Out of an abundance of caution, the building was evacuated, and both the gas company and Clinton Fire Department are onsite working to resolve it.

At this time, a few of our services located in that building, including Central Scheduling, are being temporarily relocated. As our team gets set up in alternate workspaces, you may experience slight delays when calling to schedule appointments.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work quickly to restore normal operations.
